Early Access Review
Devs have added a box indicator that shows you the general notching angle required as well as the individual missile information (which is a massive QOL). I am a happy cat now. I will retain the striked complaint just for posterity. The non-striked portion is non-major complaints.

I would like to love Nuclear Option as it seemed like a fun game with a variety of aircraft and weaponry (with its prominent display of nuclear weaponry which is a large appeal to me). The dev is genuinely cooking with this game and I want it to taste like peak and I know that it can. However, as it currently stands. The game lacks a few essential features and has poorly thought-out design that ruins any chance of me playing this game in its current state as it causes immense dissatisfaction. It's most glaring issue being that it lacks any chaff option for radar homing missiles and yet flares exist for heat-seeking missiles. Nuclear Option forces the player to notch almost perfectly at 90 degrees (fly perpendicular from a radar tracking entity guiding a radar-homing missile to force it to lose track) without providing an adequate counter with its "radar jammer" countermeasure mechanic. You use a recharging tool that supposedly increases the angle you can notch at or makes the missile lose track when perfectly notching, yet it lacks an adequate feedback to the player if it is effective or working (and it really hasn't worked with much effect in-game for me).

Since it lacks any chaff option that would make it easier to break lock while notching (since you are creating multiple entites having a higher radar emission than you to switch the radar tracking entity to lock to the chaff instead) and has such a unrealistically precise (and most importantly, unfun) need of holding a perfect 90 degree angle to the radar track with an almost useless jammer when you're not hugging the terrain, it becomes an almost unwinnable scenario when you fly higher than a few hundred meter from the terrain where you are swarmed with nearly unavoidable radar missiles that it causes me to disengage from the game. It doesn't help that you cannot force a missile to lose much speed to drag in this current iteration either, so you are forced to notch.

Another side note is that The Cricket (a propeller craft that lacks a jet engine) is easily locked at 5 or more kilometers with heat-seeking missiles despite it being a propeller craft (which generates significantly lower heat than a jet engine). It shouldn't be invisible towards heat-seeking missiles but it certainly shouldn't be so easy to lock on either, especially since you are on occasion having to engage in air-to-air combat with other proper jets in the game. You need all the advantage you can get and the Cricket seems to lack much with its lower speed, highest radar cross-section in the game besides the Tarantula, and more limited air-to-air arsenal.

To lastly add on. It lacks any sort of mobile forward operation bases that can created by AI or players (the Tarantula would be an excellent support role for this) during a mission to quickly refuel and rearm at the risk of being bombed. So a significant amount of time (especially if you're flying the prop plane) is just returning back to base after expending your munitions, which you can't carry all that much unless you dedicate all your pylons to a singular task. You can't even carry a 4x stack of missiles on your pylons, just a 2x at max. So you don't even last long in the field anyways with the munitions you do have (or don't have). This really detracts from the game being engaging since it's less time spending in the air doing something. I'm not asking to be given a 10,000lbs+ of bombs to drop like the F4 Phantom II but please give me more capacity and more arsenal amount at the expense of being able to maneuver/have air-time for bombing runs or anti-air defense. The current arsenal munitions is measly at best.

As an additional request to the dev. Could you add keybindings to the numpad where you can quick select and unselect the type of targets you can select? I'd like that as an options so you don't need to open your map to constantly change.

if 4-7 people count as the "community," sure. But I don't think that's the case here. I've been playing the game a bit more, I'll update my review once I get like 40 hours since this was made on a first impression basis but I do still feel that my (some) of my complaints are valid to various degrees.

This game has only recently appeared on my radar and it does look interesting and your complaints seem perfectly valid, so is it just the community being a tad rabid?

Don't worry about me AAA, I appreciate the sentiment. I find it really funny that people get upsetti spaghetti over some (rather minor) opinion. I still enjoy the game to some degree at least, just want it to be better.

Man I seriously feel sorry for you, these are completely valid issues and you are just being taken as a joke

Can't agree about ammunition - I think it's enough and looks pretty realistic that aircraft can't carry more. But I completely agree about radar missiles and heat trail of the Cricket.

Crazy that Tarantula won't get parachutes, but fine enough.

Clearly, you should never take off the airfield. That way, you will never have to be shot at :B1:. But no, I still think that a MAWS with auto-flare dispensary is not a bad idea and is up to user discretion much like Warthunder's. You don't always get so many flares, just be smart when to pre-flare and the MAWS timed auto-flare would make it easier.

I am also aware of using the ARAD missiles, it's very funny when other ARAD users try to shoot me down with them. "Oh no, an ARAD. Whatever will I doooooo~?" *Press R*.
