Ill probably still be thinking of Disco Elysium on my deathbed. This game is a masterpiece that wont leave my brain months after playing. From the moment you wake from your booze fueled slumber you can tell this game is something really special. The City of Martinaise feels very lived in but the devastation of war and political strife is obvious from the moment you step foot outside the Whirlin Rags for the very first time.

The characters can be some of the realest depictions of people irl or the funniest, for example: try interrogating the local street kid and they will promptly tell you to "f*ck off pig" whilst nonstop hurling insults, all while you try to examine a corpse that everyone in town has left to rot for days. Another simpler example is Garte, the hotel and cafe owner who the first time you meet him demands to be compensated for the damages your dumbass caused to the room in your drunken rampage the night prior, to which you flip him off and sprint away face first into a poor old crippled woman in a wheelchair. Even characters like this that would fool you into thinking they are one off gags become sincerely meaningful in the end.

As you piece together Harries broken memory and learn more about the sorry state of Martinaise the game continuously broadens its story stretching deeper into the history of the 51st precinct and how it got into such depressing state. The games soundtrack amplifies these feeling by 10x, as you walk through the war torn wharf that was once clearly a thriving place to live is now almost entirely abandoned you begin to make small realizations about the world and its inhabitants that stick with you long after you play the game.
