feminism never taught me to hate men but it did help me realize that i shouldn’t prioritize them over women & it turns out that alot of men consider that to be hatred lmao.

So if you were in a room with two prisoners; a man and a woman, you’d never met, and the gender neutral soldier with the big gun told you to kill one of them, you’d automatically shoot the man?

tag yourselves I’m the gender neutral soldier with the big gun

im the completely off the wall reaction to a fairly mundane post

“Tiffany “New York” Pollard — the queen of reality TV, the HBIC herself — is opening up like never before. In a new interview with "PinkNews,” she shared why she resonates with being non-binary, saying, “Some days I may feel a lot more masculine, and some days I’m super feminine — and that’s okay… shoving me back in the closet is never going to be an option.” Tiffany went on to say, “If I didn’t have such a strong connection to the queer fanbase that I have, I don’t know if I would still be in the game… They keep the HBIC alive!”"

The Monarch of Meme was already queer, and we’re happy to see her discovery. Black queer folk CONTINUE TO WIN 👑

Apparently Target did actually put out a pride collection this year, but they very obviously rushed it out in an attempt to stave off the backlash and boycott from their anti-DEI anti-LGBTQ policies after Trump’s reelection. It seems so rushed that I’m willing to bet they planned on not having a collection this year and just pandering to Rah Rah America MAGA by doubling down on 4th of July.

They rushed it so quickly they didn’t even bother to replace the standardized filler text for header and body text on the tags.

They never cared about us. It’s a naked cash grab. They showed us who they are and I don’t think they’re ever going to recover from it.

This isn’t just a Target issue. Look at how many well-known brands did nothing or next to nothing for Pride this year. This is the first year in a while that I can remember Starbucks not doing a Pride collection. Dunkin had a “Pride themed” donut which was just a donut with rainbow sprinkles, but it was optional for franchises and none in my area opted in. Kate Spade has a “rainbow collection” on their discount outlet site where a portion of proceeds go to the Trevor project, but if you saw the merch out of context you probably wouldn’t associate it with Pride. Their main website has nothing. This is in no way an exhaustive list, just a few I’ve noticed so far.

Collage of brand logos in rainbow colors from Pride month in years pastALT

Rainbow capitalism was never about showing support for the LGBT community for most brands, we’ve always known that. As much as rainbow capitalism was hated, it was a sign that the queer community was accepted enough in society that brands felt comfortable enough putting out merch and changing to rainbow logos to profit off of a “new” demographic. With the current political climate in the United States this is no longer the case. “Our shareholders don’t want us to risk becoming the next Bud Lite, you get it right? Nothing personal, just business”.

With this in mind, keep an eye out for what brands actually acknowledge Pride this year. Are they bold enough to showcase their support front and center, or is it a hidden footnote or gone altogether? Did they care about you, or did they just care about your money? Call them out, and vote with your wallet.

hey sorry not to be an asshole but I saw someone say that a sports team posting about pride month was “pandering” and I need you to log off and touch grass because now more than EVER it’s important that large institutions (and especially those that could easily be right wing like sports teams) show the fuck up for queer and trans people. especially trans people. so no it is not “pandering” to take a stand for a marginalized group of people that are currently under attack for trying to play sports. be so fucking for real

here’s a tip about war: Don’t fight the people who are on your side

A thing I have recently learned that is relevant to this conversation:

Every single Major League Baseball team has a Pride Night in June, except one: the Texas Rangers. Why they choose not to have a pride night is their business but there is one team who saw that and decided to take it personally.

And for the last few years, the Baltimore Orioles have scheduled their pride night during a home game in June when the Texas Rangers are visiting.

There may come a day when the Orioles are not playing a home game vs the Rangers in June. If that happens, I sincerely hope another team will step up and schedule their Pride night with equal pettiness.

I actually kindof like scheduling these kinds of appointments now…

but seriously Fellas, don’t forget to schedule a pap smear every couple of years just in case. If you still have a cervix you can still get cervical cancer. ilu

this has been a psa

i’ve had this as an idea since 2017 btw

It’s that time of year! 🌈

Updated COVID vaccines are mostly for preventing severe acute illness, but it modestly reduces your chances of getting COVID at all! (54% less symptomatic illness in the following 4 months, in this recent MMWR report.)
Best paired with a respirator! People who always wore N95 masks in indoor public settings had *83%* reduced risk of testing positive for COVID, in this 2022 MMWR report.

More info in this zine I made: What’s Up With COVID and How to Protect Yourself: 2024 Edition.

Image description: Title reads “COVID-Safer Pride Guide” in front of a rainbow flag and three people in masks and respirators. Five colourful squares containing information make a rainbow and contain illustrations like a person’s arm with a band-aid covering the site of a vaccine injection, a person in an N95 mask, and a line of Pride flags. The text reads:

COVID is still a threat. Getting sick sucks, plus your risk of long-lasting symptoms—aka long COVID—gets higher each time you’re infected. Fortunately, there’s a lot you can do to lower the risk of transmission! Protect your ability to party—and protest—this Pride!

Get a Booster. Like Drag Race spinoffs, new COVID variants are dropping all the time. Antibodies from your latest vax or infection wane after a few months. Get a booster matched to the latest variants, and your resistance will peak in a couple weeks!

Mask up! COVID virus spreads through the air like the smoke from a fag [British]. A well-fitting N95 mask gives great protection! More reasons to mask up: sexy and mysterious, shows community care, avoid all the other airborne diseases!

Take it outside. The more fresh air to disperse the virus, the better! Transmission is still possible, especially in a crowd, but going outdoors is a major safety update!

Stay home if you’re sick. Pride is all about community, baby. Protect your people by staying home if you’re sick. If you do have COVID (rapid tests aren’t great, so you might not know), getting lots of rest lowers your risk of developing long COVID! Drink some tea, sis.
