Ideas for background court drama in your fictional monarchy for flavor or humor:

  • King did not name his son as his heir because his son is an idiot. Said idiot son keeps trying to kill his cousin or uncle that was named as heir but keeps failing because he’s not good at this. Everyone is annoyed at the king for not imprisoning him
  • New political marriage in the court and the new spouse from outside the kingdom brought a chef with them that cooks weird
  • Some religious authority and the king keep going to war with each other and making up again like an on again off again toxic couple
  • Everyone thinks that one of the ladies in waiting got pregnant out of wedlock but she doesn’t even look pregnant and she keeps being like guys it’s been ten months
  • Someone important in the court keeps throwing really big parties that they can’t afford and people lower down on the ladder keep trying to find ways to stop them without technically disobeying them
  • Monks come complaining to the king that they’re not being fed enough when in fact they usually eat better than the king does
  • One of the servants overheard something really embarrassing and they really wanna tell someone so they’ve gotta figure out how to do that without getting in trouble
  • One of the members of the royal family has gotten obsessed with something (fashion trend, food, etc.) that the rest of the court hates but they have to pretend to like it or they’ll get in trouble
  • The queen mother (king’s mom) keeps annoyingly trying to interfere with how things are going and the king and the new queen keep running away and hiding whenever they hear her coming and it’s getting ridiculous
  • The king has not named an heir yet and everyone even slightly eligible for the throne keeps quietly trying to kill each other in the background while the king doesn’t notice and obliviously drinks beer and reads his newspaper

I think they and Tamara did the same thing me and my friends did when we played Minecraft together- three beds, all put together. No one has an assigned bed and everyone wants the same one. It’s a battle royale every night for it.

Why is basically all the official art of drow Drizzt Do'Urden (not the weird old white dude he was inexplicably depicted as on the older stuff) have him always squinting and scowling? I know he has an emo phase here and there, and you do NOT want to get on his bad side, but come on, he's not Batman!

This dude gets sprayed by skunks and takes it in stride when he stinks so bad even gnolls won't go near him, sends his 600 lbs panther to lay on people as a favorite prank, and joins in with Harkle to troll Catti-brie with nonsense. He writes long journal entries about love, hope, and the power of friendship.

Give me chill vibes Drizzt. Give me heart-eyes Drizzt. Give me goofy goober Drizzt.

I'm going to have to make it myself, aren't I...

(I know a lot of it's cover art so kinda has to imply it's actiony, but still...)

how did you discover magisterium, and what made you obsessed?

It's honestly a miracle any of us are even here. I mean, how *did* you discover magisterium? It's a children's book series that ended in 2018 and unfortunately never got any mainstream attention. We laugh about our fandom being so small but I think we're lucky to be a part of it.

So anyway that intro came out way more poetic than expected. But now the question, how did you discover magisterium, and what made you obsessed?

As for me, my best friend gifted me the first two books for my 11th birthday. Not exactly sure why she chose those specific books when there's way bigger names in stores, but I'm fucking glad that she did.

I loved the iron trial right from the start, but what made me actually obsessed was the ending of the book. I remember being a fresh 11 year old and imagining how i would feel if i were call. Literal chills.

And what about you guys???????

I saw it in the public library in the new releases section, but I didn’t pick it up (I think I got Septimus Heap instead). I saw it a few weeks later at Barnes & Noble and decided, what the hell, I might as well. Proceeded to read it at least ten times over that summer. It was a combination of a social reject protagonist (just like me fr) and the twist at the end that did it for me, I’m thinking.
