about

Since his EP 'Sinusoidal Frequency Modulations' (SFM - superpolar.bandcamp.com/album/sinusoidal-frequency-modulations ) you might know that Robin's a fan of aged digital synths. This time you can hear him on the JD800, a digital synthesizer built by Japanese company Roland from 1991 to 1996 and which, in difference to the DX-7 Barnick worked with for SFM, has a lot of knobs and sliders which he used to create the main, machine-like sound of 'Sundelic' (Side A).

This release is a little more gentle and ambient than SFM, and therefore adds a little brightness to Robin's otherwise 'dark space cosmic ring music' (Vital Weekly).

Interestingly, this synth once belonged to a German Schlager singer of Italian descent. How Robin's got his hands on this voluminous machine and why it's now in possession of Ball Geographie is an anecdote for later ...

Robin also wanted me to note that B-side 'Integral' is deeply inspired by The Tuesday Night Machines' 'Dust' (Cassingle #16) which he absolutely loves for its both digital and analogue sound created with a 'a portable granular synth workstation' (TTNM). Robin supposes it's likely Gotharman's Little deFormer.

--- THE CASSINGLE SERIES ---

30+ Artists. 30+ cassette singles with an intentional, conceptual limitation of under 3 mins per track, exclusive B-sides. Individual artworks. Merely 10 hand-dubbed copies per tape will go on sale. Eventually, all tracks will be released on a compilation, planned for late 2021. That's the SPT Cassingle series in a nutshell.
