Mysterious black cat with gleaming green eyes for this Gofukuya printed kimono.
OP stresses they chose a cat for this kimono as a matchy pun for the herringbone ground pattern.
Modern printed obi by Gofukuya, with a dragon pattern inspired by sukajan embroidered designs.
Sukajan - or souvenir jackets - appeared after WWII when parachutes were used to tailor bomber jacket american soldiers brought back in the US. First mainly decorated with military motifs, they started to be embroidered with Japanese patterns. In the 60′s, sukajan were worn by bad boys but in the past decades, they’ve made a come back into mainstream fashion.
The listing also have a pic of the whole obi, might be of interest if you’d like to see how patterns are set on an obi lenght. Top of the pic is the te (part folded and wrapped around the torse), bottom is the tare (part used to make the back knot):
[Cat trip], funky prints matching colorful mushrooms and a psychedelic cat for this modern outfit by Gofukuya
EDIT: thanks for the addition @pyritea!
Hello ! I wanted to add my two cents here, if you’re interested? The psychedelic cat is inspired (reproduced) from a drawing of Louis Wain (1860-1939), who was famous for his many portrayals of cats! His art is very cool :D
The 10/10 art in question:
Aubrey Beardsley-inspired(?) black cat kimono and obi (now discontinued), which were to be printed by Gofukuya. I am not sure if those where from actual art or made using an AI? The Beardsley cat I know is muuuch spookier and original!

[A mon seul désir] from the Lady and the Unicorn tapestry, vibrant modern irotomesode custom order made by Gofukuya.
