THE SHOWCASE WAS INSANE. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t even process everything but everything we’ve seen is 10/10. Highly recommended to go watch the replay of it!
Losing my mind about the new season as well. Absolutely losing it.

When Eris Morn banished Xivu Arath from the Black Terrace, her throne world, I immediately started to wonder if such a thing was mentioned before.
This whole season was sublime with the amount of care and references to past Hive and Eris lore—heck, Imbaru was finally mentioned again in game by name!
So when the banishment happened, I thought this was completely new thing, but reading back on the lore I was amazed to find out it wasn't!
This happened before to Oryx. In the fourth Book of Sorrow it mentions how Savathûn and Xivu Arath conspired together to lock Oryx out of his throne-world, forcing him to cut his way back in and claim it.
"I think that Savathûn and Xivu Arath are trying to steal the
tablets from me. They must have cut off my tribute while I was
away communing with the Deep."
-XXXIV: More beautiful to know
"We have marooned Oryx within the Deep."
"Savathûn and I conspired to strand Oryx on his expedition."
-XXXV: This Love Is War
"I fought my traitor siblings and I fought the swarming corpse
of Akka and I cut my way back into my own court, the High War,
which had been usurped."
-XXXVI: Eater of Hope
I was so giddy when I read this, and so I thought you and your audience would like it too :)
YES!
This season was honestly a love letter to the Books of Sorrow. There were so many throwbacks, little details and mentions of stuff from there, it felt like a really nice way to bring this, ngl, fundamental text of Destiny into the game proper. Like, this text was never in the game and this was such a cool way to bring some of that content into voice lines that you can hear and interact with.
Hearing Xivu talking about the conquests from the Books of Sorrow was such a treat. It’s one thing to read it and I absolutely adore that this was a written text because it added something special to it in written format, but it’s another thing and more, new context to hear it being narrated in voice lines.
Super cool detail with the throne world as well. Eris knows the text well and she was so sneaky about her plan, outsmarting everyone involved. Absolutely incredible solution, one I’m genuinely glad was not telegraphed otherwise because it worked so well as a surprise.

I'm kind of sad to see the end of Hive Eris, she was So Cool. It makes complete logical sense that the story ended the way it did and it would be a disservice to her character if she remained or went full Hive, but she had SUCH a cool morph and was just so fun to see. I'm gonna miss that
Oh mood. I’m so glad we at least got to see it and that we got to see her get through it and remain herself. Such a good addition to her story. Especially with how Eris continued to prove to every disbeliever that she would never turn evil or betray us in any way and that she is 100% committed to the Light and to helping us fight our enemies.
Absolutely banger design for her morph though, agreed.

What if entering the portal requires eris to go hive mode again? Part of me is worried that’s how savathun is gonna get her and potentially make her stay hive
I wouldn’t worry too much about it! I think it’s fairly set that Eris is done with that and the story of it has concluded with Eris proving to everyone that she is in control of herself and that she would never fall to her Hive side permanently. And has no need to.
Savathun also shouldn’t have a reason to make her to it either. Also I don’t think anything like that would be needed for the portal; the portal isn’t really Hive in nature and we can’t brute force through it. Whatever Savathun pointed us to for the portal, it’s not Eris being Hive. We’ll find out at the end of the season!
Also if Savathun does something we don’t like, we have her Ghost. So she has to be very careful about what she says and suggests going forward.

I think there's been discussion before on whether Guardians who have lost their Light still age? I vaguely remember that. Anyway Ikora said in the final radio message that she hasn't seen Eris this happy in a Century
Idk if we knew how long it's been since Eris lost her Ghost before & she might be a special case thanks to her Akamhara bone, but I think she'd probably have aged after 100+ years if she was going to
Probably, but also maybe not. A lot of it depends on how extended human life span works. After the Traveler’s arrival, life span extended to 300 years and we have no clue how that works: do people get to the elderly appearance in the normal human life spawn (so at like 70-80) and then stay old-looking for an additional 200 years OR do they just… age slower? Like, would a Golden Age human just look roughly 30-40 for 100 years? Also we haven’t seen what Eris looked like 100 years ago. Maybe her age is showing to those that knew her.
But also yeah absolutely, she might be a special case in general. Also to consider is Guardians overall. Since they’re rezed at the age they died, someone who was rezed as older and then became Lightless… would they just die earlier than some other Guardian given time? We genuinely don’t have information about this. There’s not a single mention of a Lightless Guardian that died of old age. With Eris it’s even harder to tell given the ahamkara bone and her Hive magic powers.
Rites of Passage page 7! This is basically the follow-up to the cutscene.
So, whatever we need for the portal, we already have it. This is probably going to be what the epilogue will be about. There’s one more page left here. We’ll probably be looking for the thing in the meantime. Ikora also said it in the radio message:
Interesting phrasing. “Discover what form it’s taken.” Perhaps this thing that we need is a… shapeshifter of some kind. Wink wink.
Also, unclear from Ikora’s message before we go to the oubliette:
Eris wanted something from the vault, but we’re never told what it is. Possibly also something that might be discussed for the epilogue, or the remaining radio messages (and we don’t know when they’re happening; one for the epilogue, but there’s 2 left besides that). EDIT: people pointed out that this is probably referring to Savathun’s body which makes sense!
Wild stuff today. Absolutely incredible performance by everyone and what a stunning way to deal with Xivu. Now we wait for her to show up. Possible minor hint in the message from Ikora at the end, where she says Xivu is a secondary issue now and that we first need to deal with the Witness; possible that Xivu will remain an enemy after The Final Shape.
Feeling things and emotions about Ikora vouching for Eris in the radio message.
Elsie said that Eris succumbed to despair - pushed over the edge by her Nightmares. But the Eris I know has been tested countless times and never once faltered. Instead of being overwhelmed by her Nightmares, she conquered them. Besides, our Eris has an even greater advantage: she has her friends protecting her. And that’s a force strong enough to alter any timeline.
Rites of Passage page 4! On the floor.
This week revealed that when Eris invoked the worms, she also invoked Ahsa. And Ahsa responded. Eris’ tithes are effectively working through Ahsa as any other Worm god. And Ahsa accepted this willingly because she recognised that Eris is not only doing this altruistically, she is also putting herself as well in the line of danger which means that is fundamentally different from the pact with the Witness that Ahsa refused to take. Insane.
Unfortunately this is exceptionally dangerous to both Ahsa and Eris so we have to speed things up so they can be free of this bond. I need these women to survive and be well forever and ever.

On the floor this week with all the stuff. Sav and Xivu interaction PEAK content. Also the cutscene as well. Xivu is just so insane. She’s a war criminal. She’s babygirl. She’s in shambles. She cannot be defeated.
