Sherlock theme v.2: Live Preview | Code

This is an updated version of my Sherlock theme.

Existing Features:

• Popup navigation menu when you mouse over the smiley.
• Infinite scrolling.
• Simple layout using the same white text from the series.
• Static nav menu (so you don’t have to scroll back to the top to find it.)
• Custom font sizes and link-hover colour.
• Optional RSS and Archive links in the nav menu.

New Features:

• Time posted, notecount and tags now appear beside each post when the posts is hovered over instead of being permanently fixed beneath it.
• The navigation menu for the smiley face now runs on css alone, no javascript. It is also fixed in place this time so that it doesn’t overlap the main content.
• Custom links are no longer listed in the customise options as “link 1, url 1, link 2, url 2, etc…” With the Javascript no longer causing a problem with showing your regular page links, those are back and fully operational.
• There are also a few small improvements to the layout of the permalink pages.

Version 3

• Now has a place for a title and description
• Sidebar appears when hovering over the smilie face
• This hover option can be turned off so that the sidebar is always visible
• Optional searchbar
• Tags and permalink are now a little easier to read
• A few more customise options including fonts and font-sizes

The Blog of Molly Hooper: Live Preview | Code

After making themes for Sherlock and John, apparently Molly had to be included. You guys better adore me for this, because I almost went blind looking at the excessive pink and flowers and hearts and kittens and *gags* comic sans. It’s perfect for anyone running a Molly Hooper roleplay blog. Works perfectly on the latest versions of all major browsers. Check the live preview for customise options.

Of course, I take no credit for the design, given that it’s based on the official BBC blog. However I do take full credit for the reconstruction and translation into a tumblr theme.

The Science of Deduction: Live Preview | Code

Companion to the John Watson theme. Made to look almost exactly like the official Sherlock Holmes blog from the BBC Sherlock mini-series. It is not perfectly identical because I had to create all the images from scratch in photoshop. The blog creators made it impossible to pull the original images from the site (yeah yeah, copyright), so this theme has the closest I could manage.

Features:

• Can replace the header image.
• I have provided a photoshop file of the header with the grunge textures in it if you wish to play around with it and change the text. [link]
• You can edit the title and url of the tabs.
• Add extra titles to the sidebar by just copying the code provided in the description of the live preview.
• Compatible with all major browsers.

I used two sets of Grunge brushes to create the textures. Credit for those goes to szuia and ~KeReN-R of Deviantart. The London Skyline image came from here.

The Blog of Dr. John H. Watson: Live Preview | Code

Made to look exactly like the official John Watson blog from the BBC Sherlock mini-series. Its counterpart, the Sherlock Holmes theme, will be coming next.

Features:

• Every colour on the blog is cutomisable. Check the live preview for what those options are.
• Large font, though the font-size can be easily changed.
• Features the frozen hit-counter, which can be hidden.
• Option to display tags on the index page.
• Upload your own header.
• Ability to add extra modules down the right.

A note on adding modules:
I made it super easy to add new ones. All you have to do is scroll to the very bottom of the code and I have a clearly marked section labeled ‘Copy this for extra modules’. Copy it to the same section of code. After that you only have to replace the words 'content here’ with your own content.

A simplistic theme based on BBC’s Sherlock series, using the wallpaper from their apartment.
