Obsidian One 'Exuvia' is what I'd call "ritualistic black metal." I never cared much for the rest of the album, but this first track — especially from 3:12 to 8:00 — is such a trip. I can't even count how many times I've listened to that passage, but it never gets old. Immense and powerful beyond words. Their earlier album, Blood Vaults, also has an incredible opening, but 'Exuvia' is on another level. Avant-garde, with a dark, spiritual energy, The Ruins of Beverast is different. Favorite track: Exuvia.

Sælzer Bub An extraordinary musical journey. The Ruins of Beverast is one of those Artists you shouldn’t miss in your collection. Exuvia is an atmospheric and hypnotizing masterpiece. Sinister blackened doom. This will haunt you forever. Favorite track: Maere (On A Stillbirth´s Tomb).

zaphexa Listening to this on shrooms was haunting, which made it into a serious trip! Which was a mistake I was not prepared for. I do have something to say about it though on why I think it such. I have personally experienced several tipi ceremonies. One would stay up through the night, consuming peyote, doing in some sense a molting process and does so by connecting you to the spirit world.

This album does this, but different - I say it transcends that experience, and does it well... On shrooms.

Favorite track: Exuvia.
