This honestly reminds me of the No Kings rallies and all the leftists who were like, bitching about the protest signs that were too neoliberal or whatever.
You need to start seeing people as potential allies in fights that you align with each other on. You are not going to agree on 100% of things with all people. You might agree with someone on nothing at all, except that the teacher union is important for teachers and students. You still fight together for that union based on your shared goal.
That person who is a liberal but isn't leftist enough can actually be spoken to and influenced further left. That ex-MAGA person who finally regrets voting for Trump can actually be spoken to and encouraged to resist Trump and speak to other MAGAts to influence them to criticize Trump too.
Social change is not about ostracizing every person who has a slightly different opinion than you. It's about finding commonalities, not differences, and aligning where we align and either leaving alone where we do not align, or having patient, meaningful conversations to bring people closer to where we want them to be.
Canceling people for their slightly imperfect opinions feels soooo fun and self-righteous but actually achieves literally nothing. Less than nothing. It makes our fight weaker.
