I’ve looked through this. The First example of “Kanayaphobia” was in 2013, on urban dictionary, clearly a Homestuck joke. It happens to be one of the first things to show up when you search “Fear of Chainsaws” and some poor oculus employee thought it was real. For those who think it’s a coincidence, the root word of “kanaya” means Virgo. Absolutely nothing to do with chainsaws. This is 100%, intentionally or not, a Homestuck refrence

This is an old post but as it’s probably going around for RE4 remake I’m confirming that I worked on this campaign (as a voiceover on a series of instructional videos for the Oculus YouTube, not associated with this) and relayed to the team that this was actually a joke related to Homestuck and they were clueless about it. Definitely not an intentional reference and they definitely just looked it up and wrote the first thing they found. I think in their mind engagement was engagement so they didn’t change it.
