Arla Foods, owner of the UK's largest dairy co-operative, is now is using something called Bovaer (chemical to lessen Methane) BUT this hurting and killing cows instead.
Aside from the cows, we are getting this chemical in us too when consuming their products.
I'm extremely disappointed in Arla Foods.
Arla Foods' partnership with DSM, the manufacturer of Bovaer, raises concerns about the welfare of the cows and the potential long-term effects of this supplement on their health. It's also worth noting that this solution might be seen as a Band-Aid fix, rather than addressing the root causes of methane emissions in the dairy industry.
As a consumer, I expect more transparency and accountability from companies like Arla Foods. Instead of investing in quick fixes, they should focus on more sustainable and humane practices that prioritize animal welfare and environmental stewardship.
Until Arla Foods prioritizes the well-being of their cows and the environment, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
