H.S.Johnson was established in 1946 after the end of the Second World War. Herbert Samuel Johnson was a watchmaker before the war and his skills were put to use repairing aircraft instruments as an RAF Sergeant in those bleak times of war. Whilst stationed at Fradley he met and married his sweetheart Violet, whose father was the Editor of the Lichfield Mercury, and after wartime had ended they decided to stay local and opened their business in Rugeley ( Pic 1 ) where it still resides today. In the early days when rationing was still in effect the shop consisted of trading from wartime utility tables, a far cry from todays shop. In 1951 Michael Samuel Johnson was born on the premises and would grow up to follow his father into the watchmaking trade. At 14 he started tinkering with clocks and at 16 was working in the shop full time with day releases to college to gain the relevant qualifications. By 21 he had passed his 3 year course at the School of Jewelry and Silversmiths in Birmingham, after which he worked full time in the shop as a watchmaker. Today he still runs the shop and carries out the repairs. He can be seen playing behind his dad's car in the picture from 1957 ( Pic 2 ). In fact the family has a rich history of watchmaking, Michael is 4th generation and his father 3rd. Before this Herbert's father also called Herbert was a watchmaker in London and Hove, he also taught watchmaking at a London University and during this time built 3 clocks, one of which we still have in the shop, these clocks are totally hand made, every part, truly amazing to see and hear. It doesn't stop there either, his father, James Johnson, was manager of Pickett's in Oxford Street in London and Michael's great great uncle was William Johnson who was responsible for the repair and maintenance of the clocks at Hampton Court Palace in Victorian Days. Two wrong items

I ordered a bracelet and when it arrived the wrong colour had been sent. I emailed customer services and I was told that a new one would be sent. I had to chase them up a couple of times, but nevertheless a new bracelet was sent to me. However, when this bracelet arrived it was the wrong colour again. Luckily, the person I had bought the bracelet for liked this colour and decided they wanted to keep it. One time is completely understandable, these things happen, but for it to happen twice seems a little bit unprofessional and almost like they didn’t care. The bracelet is great quality, but unfortunately I can’t see myself ordering from this company again.

Just seen the reply and my order number was #16445 and I emailed enquirieshsjohnson.com multiple times. Please do not try and lie and say there is no record of me because it is really embarrassing for your company.

Sorry my mistake, #164445, but I’m sure you knew that anyway.

You 100% didn’t I ordered the dark brown one and a light brown one came.

Excellent service provided

I ordered a watch on the HS Johnson website at 10:00pm. The order was processed the next day and successfully delivered by Royal Mail 24 hours later. Excellent service provided, no complaints whatsoever.

Unprofessional and Unhelpful

Bought a Lotus Watch from them. Took ages to deliver. When finally arrived, I was on holidays. Upon my return I opened the box and noticed a small scratch mark on the crown of the time adjuster. Emailed them with pictures and receipts. They have a refund and replacement policy within 30 days of purchase which is clearly written on their website. Despite this, they refused to honour any of that. They clearly refused any return or refund. It was only 11 days since purchase. Customer service is very unprofessional and unhelpful. I would not recommend using them and certainly won't be buying from them again in future.

You ordered a pre order item hence the delay and you where fully aware of that. The item was delivered and signed for with an image of the open doorway, then 11 days later you said it had a scratch on it, I'm afraid as our policy states items received in non perfect condition have to be reported within 24 hours for obvious reasons. This has nothing to do with a return policy. Calling us unprofessional and unhelpful because we refused to take a watch back 11 days after receipt for a scratch that was now on it is very very unfair. People only seem to come to Trustpilot to leave a bad review when we do not do as they wish, we don't use there service so all our good reviews are not here to couteract this, our reviews are at https://judge.me/reviews/stores/www.hsjohnson.com

Great company to deal with.
I contacted customer services before I placed an order and they responded very quickly and answered all my questions so I placed the order and it arrived the next day.
Couldn’t find fault if I tried.

Poor customer service

Ordered a watch that said Royal Mail 24 Hrs delivery. I didn’t mind if it was a few days but then I got an email saying once we receive the watch we will provide a delivery date! When I challenged this with evidence I was met with very rude customer service who refunded me once they realised they were completely in the wrong! You disputed this so we then sent you images to prove it and you chose to still believe you are correct and got rude with us so we told you we where cancelling your order as we are not here to be spoken to in such a manner when the issue is clearly your mistake. New Watch

I ordered a watch online that had to be ordered in from the supplier in Italy. Nevertheless, my new watch was delivered only 7 days after ordering - pretty good I thought. After ordering a had one small query and my email was answered within 24 hours. The watch itself is great and was cheaper here than anywhere else I could find. Would definitely use again.

Watch fell apart 3 times same spot no refund just an offer for repair after it's been repaired 4 times.

The first thing they said "Your item is with the brand being repaired under warranty, the second time is for a different reason to the first time, you are totally aware of this" now the watch broke twice for the same reason still no refund.

Your item is with the brand being repaired under warranty, the second time is for a different reason to the first time, you are totally aware of this, we have no control over the speed the brand works at to resolve any issues under warranty and they often need to order parts from the factory to resolve an issue which can add time, for reference we are only talking a few weeks since you sent it in. You have repeatedly been offensive and accusing to us, just look at this unfair and inaccurate review, we told you to stop it or we would not respond to your messages as we are not here to be abused especially when we are working to resolve your issues and have done nothing wrong.

21st February to 19 April ( today ) is less than 2 months, not sure where nearly 3 months is coming from ?

It was on the opposite side of the item, so not the same fault, we have sold hundreds of this design with no issue, unfortunately you have experienced it twice in different places for some reason.

Since your original review you have been told they are replacing the item for you, something in our experience rarely happens from a brand, i thought you had replied to the review to reflect that fact but i was clearly mistaken.

When your replacement arrives we will send it to you.

Note we have zero control over how long a brand takes to resolve a warranty claim or indeed how they choose to resolve it.

You are dealing direct with the brand now not us, please refer your reviews to them now.

For clarity they have repaired the issue on each side for 2 different issues at different times under warranty which is there legal right to do. You then claimed they damaged your item during the second repair and they told you to send it back to them to resolve which they did, you then said there was an issue with this repair and they have again asked you to return it to them which you are yet to do. They will only fit there original parts so not sure why you believe they are fitting inferior parts.

We would also like to state that we have never had any issues with Timex's repair centre previously.

Also like to state that a refund has never been offered, they will resolve issues under the warranty

You are not stating facts, Timex have sent you a collection at there cost request, you say you have not heard from them.

The brand is happy and willing to fulfil there legal requirement to resole your issue, you basically only want a refund and that is not being offered hence you constant revisions and emails and allegations that are not correct.

We have stated to you your choices are repair to be resolved at there expense or leave the item as it is, it's your choice but a refund is not an option.

Scam

I’ve returned a watch for repair on 08/09/21 and still no news about it. They’re are gonna reply to this saying Covid bla bla bla, but the truth is this is a f***ing scam. I have absolute no need about it ever since. Send me proof this was sent to your supplier for repair. Send me the status of it.

I’m warning you people, DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!

Perhaps, just perhaps it's the truth ?

We have answered every message you have sent us have we not ?

Warranty departments ( which isn't us by the way but the brands service centre we have to send it to ) have huge backlogs, skeleton staffing, covid sickness shortages and then on top of that if they need to order parts in for the repair the same issues are involved with who they get the part from and the couriers involved, multiplying the issue many times.

Sometimes the truth is the truth and you have to accept that, especially when there is a worldwide pandemic and things currently are worse than they have been at any stage on it.

When we get the item back we will get it back to you.

Excellent customer service

HS Johnson had the watch I wanted at the best price, it was delivered in a couple of days. The watch wasn't for me, so I returned it and they refunded me immediately without any delay. THAT is good service, so on this occasion I didn't buy a watch but based on the service of being able to return something without any hassle, I have confidence in the company and undoubtedly will buy from them in the future and they wouldn't have to be the cheapest because I can rely on them.

Excellent service and product- definitely recommend!

I recently purchased an Elliot Brown watch from this company, initially driven by their competitive price, but given the high cost of item was still concerned whether the company were ok. I’m extremely pleased to say the watch was delivered very securely and promptly and is of excellent quality. I had cause to contact customer services via email, which in my experience is the real test of a company- again they have been brilliant, they responded straight away were very helpful. I look forward to purchasing from them again and definitely recommend them to others
