The customer service officer, knew what she was doing and managed to sort out the query, which nobody else I've spoken to has managed to since 09.01.2026

Just had the pleasure of dealing with Alice Kershaw at SmartestEnergy as we swapped over to them when purchasing a business where they supplied the electric. I was initially thinking of the need to swap utility providers to get the best deal but after speaking to Alice and checking rates SmartestEnergy were offering the best rates, Alice was fantastic and made the whole process really easy and was great to deal with, I would highly recommend SmartestEnergy !

My recent experience with SmartestEnergy Business has been extremely disappointing. Despite having an agreement in place for several years that my account is not on Direct Debit—an arrangement made after SmartestEnergy caused major billing errors that took years to resolve—the company has once again mishandled my account.
They sent me a payment-chasing email at 1:06pm on a Friday, even though the actual bill didn’t arrive until 9:29pm that same evening. Chasing for payment before issuing the bill is completely unacceptable.
To make matters worse, they reinstated a Direct Debit without my consent, then tried to charge me £78 + VAT for “Direct Debit cancellation.” This is especially concerning given that SmartestEnergy had already confirmed over the phone within the past few months that my account is not a Direct Debit account.
They also added a £44.95 late payment fee, even though their own failure to send bills on time caused the situation in the first place.
Adding to all of this, my account is somehow showing a contract end date of 2050, which is obviously incorrect and raises questions about the accuracy and reliability of their systems.
Overall, the service over the past few months has been unacceptable, and the lack of accuracy, communication, and accountability has made managing this account unnecessarily stressful. I expect these incorrect charges to be removed and the contract details corrected immediately.

Well I habe been promised for bank details where I can start payment even that I am on direct debit , but I didn't get the details only this link to say how happy I was with my experience. So I wasn't happy. I choose smartes because we have a smart meter so I won't have to read the meter every month, I read the meter and no bill. I don't really want to pay thouseand of pounds when they finally find out I haven't been paying a penny. I have been told they waiting on my annual consumption but why when I can read the meter how much I use. Luckily I only signed up for a year which is soon up and I can change. Even thougth I get weekly phone calls to try to bully me into an other 3 year, even saying that my payment will be the same if a war breaks out, what a horrible things to say. And of course the call center is somewhere overseas which I personly have problem to understand the english. So can't wait for the yar to end and I will change.

I have several accounts with Smartest Energy. Around 12 for various properties in different company names.
Their customer services is terrible. Once you sell the property you simply can’t get out of the contract. I have supplied them evidence multiple times from solicitors etc etc etc where some of the portfolio have been sold and they are still stealing from the accounts some 3 to 6 months later. I’m constantly repeatedly providing proof of sale and still they won’t close the accounts. Having received my end of months bills, they are still billing me after multiple correspondence.
I switched to them to make my life easier by having most of my energy accounts with one supplier but they have been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Time wasting multiple calls and multiple emails.
I will never switch from EDF and Octopus again who never give me problems when I sell and I will certainly never renew any contracts with Smartest Energy when they finish.
STAY AWAY. Yes they were good at first when you sign up but once you sell they are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE
I will continually place bad reviews until you deal with the closure of the accounts

Really, don’t know where to begin. I was offered a rate that was increased…then someone came back with a cheaper rate? Then I accepted it. Then another rate which was cheap than that and it went on for a bit…I get these new contracts to sign ✍️ then got in touch to say, what’s going on? a lady called Barbara sorted it as my aunt was dying and I had to go state side. Then the original young man who ripped me off calls back with an aggressive attitude....you couldnt make it up! Then some other woman and they’re aggressive and threatening me!! To this day I’ve no idea and absolutely hate these people. They’ve shown ignorance, lack of loyalty, dishonesty etc…I’m still in mourning but will sort when I’m stronger but would NOT recommend

Switched to this company 6 months ago and they still can't get the bill correct despite endless emails and meter readings being provided. Can someone from Smartest Energy please give me a call so this can be resolved.

We have been shocked by our dealings with this company after moving into a property where they were the main electricity supplier. It took multiple attempts over several weeks just to open an account and have the supply switched to residential.
During this time, we were billed over £1,000 for what was normal domestic usage, including a charge of £534 for the period from 1 October to 3 October alone.
This issue has now been ongoing for almost six months, and responses to our emails have been few and far between.
Based on our experience, this is definitely a company to be wary of whether you are a business or domestic client.
It looks like others have had similar issues when trying to make changes to their accounts.

I have been running a business for the last 16 years and in the whole those 16 years it’s literally the first time I come across someone that can really help me with electricity contract. Very easy straightforward no hidden costs and the cheap cheapest around thanks Laurence
