So I’ve ordered from Powertool world…
So I’ve ordered from Powertool world before and prices are always good and deliveries on time but I’ve not had to raise an issue with them until now. This is the time you tell a good company for a tradesman to buy from - their back up service and I can assure you powerfool worlds service is designed to get your back up!
Ordered a Milwaukee M12 Pruning Saw advertised as a kit including a case, two 6ah batteries and charger on 25 January
Delivery took a little longer than usual but got the usual DHL message and when I got home I found a completely open package containing a case, some foam and a second box that contained the saw and the charger - there was no batteries.
Now fortunately I have CCTV everywhere at my house and looking at the time of delivery I can see the DHL driver unloading a completely open box - literally he was carrying it like it was a cardboard sandwich with the product sandwiched between the failing box.
It was after 5pm so couldn’t call them until the next day, so I emailed them across all the photo evidence of received package and delivery. The response was that I needed to fill in a DHL claim form and allow DHL to do their own internal investigation. Immediately my back was up as my contract isn’t with DHL and we all know when you calla. Courier tell you they will only deal with the sender not the receiver. I had also noticed that the boxes had not battery warning labels attached.
So I called them and asked if they could confirm they had sent the batteries. A few hours later they sent a photo of the packaging machine showing what appears to be the batteries being boxed.
I sent them pictures of the box itself that showed that there was too little tape used to secure the box so it was indeed a powertool world issue and not DHL’s.
I requested the batteries to be sent for next day dispatch. I heard no more until I phoned them a couple of days later asking why the batteries weren’t with me. Their answer “ohh we can send them out now but we didn’t have to wait for 48 hours or so to allow dhl blah blah blah.
I became rather out out and decided to cancel the transaction. They arranged a dhl collection.
That Friday DHL sent an email saying they will collect and an allotted time - didn’t show
The following Monday day same thing and again no email from dhl saying missed pick up or sorry we didn’t make it to you.
The 3rd day I got a note from dhl to say they would be with me between 4 and 5pm - driver seen on camera looking in the porch for the package at 1:30pm - I was at work of course.
Tried calling and using DHL’s WhatsApp messaging and it is garbage you cannot speak to someone at all there anymore.
Phoned Powerfool world yet again and explained they contacted dhl - dhl refused to collect today as they have had 3 failed attempts
They have been told their goods are ready to collect - please collect. I did tell them I would be willing to keep the goods if batteries were sold and £30 was refunded off the original purchase price but they ignored that part of the email and asked if I wanted the batteries sent as “that might be easier”
I gave them their choices again and they have refused so I am now waiting for their email regarding the pick up again.
I have raised a dispute with the credit card company now - I’m done with them and sadly trust is gone so I will no longer purchase from them.
Faster than Concorde!
Ordered on Saturday, delivered on Monday morning. Only company that had all the items I wanted in stock at great prices too. And I haven't been pestered to leave a review unlike many others. And furthermore, they used DHL instead of that useless company Evri. Thoroughly recommended.
Customer service cant be reached
Sorry to say this is a review purely based on Power tool Worlds customer service. Ordered a tool on the 5th for next day delivery it never came not there fault there courier D.H.L delayed it for some reason since It is the 9th today and i am still no clearer to finding out when my gear that i need for the next day is going to show up as i have not had a reply from D.H.L and can't reach Power tool world through there phone number or online messaging service so for that reason they will not get any of my hard earned cash as a trades person.
Selling seriously substandard junk, and they just don't care!
I bought a Makita LS1110F 260mm mitre saw. Their price was around the same as Amazon, and I really needed a new saw, so ordered from Power Tool World. The saw arrived, and in customary fashion, the DHL driver, placed the box down, with a huge corner dent, so that it wasn't noticed, before he left.
The damaged box was the least of my worries. As I unpacked this saw, I was a quite horrified at how badly it had been put together. My first thought was that it was a factory seconds, but the more I looked, the more it seemed like a knockoff? The bas elf the saw is made up from a large chunk of cast aluminium, which is machined out to form the shape. The machining looked like it has been done by a child. Absolutely, dog rough. There were razor sharp burrs, where the aluminium had not been finished, all over the place. There were odd, deep marks in the machined part, which is supposed to be nice and flat. There were ill fitting plastics, and some of the cast parts that held the rails, looked like they had been attacked with a hammer and chisel, and then painted over. The paint had a hand print in it and was smudged! The list of badly finished parts was huge, and there's too much to list here, but the problem that sealed the deal, was that the saw did not function properly. The motor had some kind of issue, when it was turned on, it made a really loud, grinding sound, like the blade was rubbing on something, but it wasn't that. I took the blade off and the motor still made the same sound. I also noted that there were purple sparks coming from inside the motor. This level of bad, you might find on power tools from Aliexpress, or Banggood, but I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like this from Makita.
I emailed Makita to ask if this was normal quality for this saw, and they were interested to find out more. At that point, I could only tell them where I got it from, and the problems that I could see.
I emailed power tool world, and they wanted evidence, which I sent in the form of photos and a video. They then said that they needed to send it to another team to see, and it would take around 48 hours, which it did.
In this time, I was back and forth with Makita, and they said that they would send their area manager rep over to power tool world to check their stock, because I had mentioned that I was really desperate for this saw, and this had set me back.
So the saw was returned, and a few days later, I got a call and an email from power tool world, who agreed that the saw should never have been sent out like that, and they also said that the Makita rep had been and checked their stock, and all their remaining units were badly finished, and all had the same motor fault, and they were going to refund me. I had already told them I needed a replacement, but obviously, not a broken one.
So I decided to keep an eye on stock levels on power tool world, for this saw. I was kind of surprised to se that they had 7 units of this same saw, still available for sale. I know there was 7, as that's how many it would allow me to add to basket and go to checkout with.
I watched over the next few days and sure enough, there were no changes, the stock was still for sale. So imagine for a second, that power tool world, had just been told that all their stock was bad/faulty, but they knowingly kept on selling it. And you may say, it could be different stock? Well, again, if it was, why did they lie to me and say they did not have a replacement? it's one or the other? No regard for their customers whatsoever.
Left high and dry, once again, by Power Tool World.
Avoid, at all costs.
Quick delivery
Quick delivery , quality product and decent price. I can recommend the seller!
Battery charger
Ease to order item. Item came well packaged and in the timescales given.
Very poor customer service
Placed an order in Jan and expected delivery about 3-4 days later. It appears it has been shipped but has not been delivered and DHL can't give any definitive dates when it will be delivered. Customer service at Powertool World is non existent. Phone lines don't work, they don't reply to messages or emails so I am left with no choice but to leave a 1 star review. We have used these guys before with no problem but seems like quite a few others are experiencing the same problems. I will be avoiding this company in future.
Absolute Nightmare – Avoid at All Costs!
Absolute Nightmare – Avoid at All Costs!
I recently had the misfortune of dealing with this company, and it's hands-down one of the worst shopping experiences I've ever endured. Ordered goods that arrived faulty. When I complained, which was hard as you can't even get through on the phone, they dragged their feet for two entire months before finally issuing a refund. Two months! In what universe is that acceptable? We're talking about basic consumer rights here, and they treated me like I was the problem.
To make matters worse, I wasted two full days of my life sitting around waiting for their botched collection attempts that never materialized. Did they offer any compensation for my lost time, travel costs, or sheer frustration? Nope. Not a penny. Barely even a half-hearted apology – just some generic email that screamed "we don't care."
This isn't just poor service; it's outright incompetence and a blatant disregard for customers. If you're thinking of buying from them, run the other way. Save your money, time, and sanity. Zero stars if I could – they're lucky Trustpilot forces at least one.

Decided yesterday afternoon 21/1/26 to get myself a new hedge trimmer, it’s sat here with me now , thanks guys great service 👍
Another delivery complaint
In the last two months I’ve spent about £800 on Dewalt gear from powertool world: a nail gun, a circular saw that works on a track (so a track too), a multitool, a 9ah Flexi battery, and two 5ah batteries. Every time it’s a tool, DHL decides to hold it hostage.
The first time, I emailed politely, explaining I had to collect it myself because it was “out for delivery” and magically cancelled just before it was due. I even said to powertool world, ‘I know it’s not your fault, it's the delivery company.’ They replied with the usual meaningless, ‘we’ll look into it.’ Obvious BS, but I let it slide.
Then it happened again. Half my order arrived, the tool did not. I emailed, expecting the usual polite nonsense. Instead, I got a Kafkaesque reply demanding I fill out a DHL form before they could do anything. I hadn’t realised I’d been drafted as their secretary, this was a 'cover their own arse' form so they can claim DHL insurance if it was lost, why the hell they would think that is my problem I don't know, under consumer regulations they are responsible for it until the point of delivery, no delivery means I'm now a creditor, not a customer and I need paying either in goods or return of cash. Me filling out your bloody form for you changes none of that and just pushes your work onto me.
Politeness only exists when everything suits them. Challenge their self-image and out comes Mr Hyde.
Prices are fine, the products aren’t theirs, so reliability isn’t on them. They have three real jobs: cut prices (ok), market, and deliver. They’ve chosen a delivery partner whose “next day” promise is as reliable as a chocolate teapot.
Hopeless courier and I pay for the privilege
So
Two failed delivery attempts the I agreed to delivery to parcel shop
This was confirmed by carrier
The end of the day that delivery should have been made to parcel shop, get a text saying they had failed to deliver there either
No further communication until an email saying the parcel had been returned and I was to be charged £6 for the privilege of all this mess
I emailed ptw and was told that this was policy
Having used ptw for many years I would not dream of doing so again
(Anyone want 160points on their scheme?)
All very sad
I would recommend
My personal experience is very different to some of the more recent bad reviews. I have had reason to order two items during the last month. On both occassions the correct item arrived quickly. They also have, in my opinion, most competitive pricing (including free delivery on items over £50, which is a bonus).
Lied repeatedly saying an item I’d…
Lied repeatedly saying an item I’d bought on sale was being dispatched and then after repeated chasing said item was out if stock a week later. Avoid at all costs.
Just Dont !!!!
Ordered a Sander for a job , delivery kept being cancelled , so phoned cancelled order , 4 days later still no refund , phoned again and told i would have to wait until DHL investigate before I get my money back because thats the process of the powertool world , so in short I have no item , never seen the item and no money .... Thankfully I paid with paypal so raised issue with them and refunded .... Customer service is F-
Item not delivered
Item not delivered. Shows as out for delivery on tracking but that was 10 days ago.
Can't ring them because answer phone menu system just goes around in a loop and doesn't let you select an option.
Reporting to back to claim money back. Avoid.
all good products and delivery
Order botched twice
Order botched twice. First time, took money and no invoice or order processed.
Second time, promised that a product would arrive on a date. As the product was needed for a certain date and job.
Failed to deliver on time even when paying for next day delivery. And assurances given by customer services representative Hayley. That this would arrive on time.
Failed again.
Bad bad bad
Very bad company . Items ordered all shown as in stock . Not true . Promised next working day delivery not true. Immediately offered a future order discount after placing first order (very annoying) . After 5 days they cancelled part of order as they did not have due to ‘incorrect stock levels’ . Still showing on site as in stock Tried to cancel order after non delivery for 5 days and met with silence . NOTE if you want to return items you have to pay courier charges.
Remainder of items delivered in two deliveries after 6 days and I have to wait for Courier firm as deliveries must be signed for .
Will not use this firm again
18v Dewalt grinder
