Disc brake oil change

I had booked an appointment with Halfords, Shoreham, over the phone several days earlier for 9:00am and was told a disc brake oil change would take about an hour. I arrived at 9:00am on the dot and was told the job would take about 2 hours.

I mentioned the quoted time of 1 hr and was told, it would take "1 hour from the time a spare bay becomes available," as all 6 bays were occupied. I waited for an hour and asked for the car key so I could sit in the car to wait. At 10:15 one of the bays became vacant. At 10:35 I walked into the reception and asked for my car key.
"Are you sure? You're next up," the manager said, not realising I had witnessed the bay become vacant 20 minutes earlier.

Not good : (

Halfords have since contacted me to request my order/reference number to put things right. They have those details. They asked for them when I made the original booking.

A waste of money

It took four visits from two different plumbers to solve the problem which, ultimately, involved replacing a part which only cost £10!?!?

If we had been listened to and believed, Corgi would have saved a lot of money and our CH would have been repaired much quicker.

A very good on-line service

A very good on-line service. However, Rail Europe UK did NOT accept our coupon/voucher for a reduction in price, otherwise I would have rated them 5* for efficency and the overall price of £102 for a return ticket to Edinburgh from Canterbury.

Further to my review entitled 'Utility…

Further to my review entitled 'Utility Point are a disgrace' (written days before their demise) this advice might be helpful to other UP customers.

UP folded with over £200 of mine in their coffers. Ofgem are a waste of space for the consumer so don't waste your time contacting them for money you are owed. God knows why they exist!

I contacted British Gas (who I switched to 6 weeks ago) and asked them who I should contact to have my money returned. Low and behold they have organised the refund for me.

Maybe EDF will do the same for those of you who had no choice but to switch your enegy account to them, if you make the first move.

Utility Point are a disgrace

Utility Point has still not reimbursed the £139.96 they withdrew from our account without our authorisation or permission - therefore illegally - one month and one day after we ended our account with them and transferred to British Gas.

Similarly, Utility Point withdrew the same amount from our account the day after we terminated our contract with them.

We had a similar situation in a second property when we switched our account and waited 7 months for Utility Point to return hundreds of pounds to us.

This cannot be co-incidence and suggests it is the policy of the company to sit on their customers' money to earn interest.

If this shameful practice has become 'standard' it needs to be brought to the attention of the public before they make the same mistake and choose this supplier.

Very good service ... but

Very good service, but two 'glitches': firstly, I was signed up to 'automatic renewal' without so much as being asked if this was a service I wanted ... and I didn't. This is worth double-checking if you apply on-line. I have since phoned H.D. to cancel my automatic renewal; secondly, an agent I spoke to told me he had entered an important note into my file which would clarify my situation in the event of claim. A few days later a second agent called me to "query some details" in my application. It transpired the first agent had not entered the note he told me he would do!

I receive dual fuel from First Utility

I receive dual fuel from First Utility in two properties and broadband in one of them. They are always courteous on the phone and if the waiting time for an agent is too long I am automatically offered a 'call back' option. I have had smart meters installed (free) in one property so now I don't need to read the meters (difficult to do when you can't be in both properties at the same time). The unit rate for dual fuel and daily standing charge was the lowest on the market at that time. I am now about to have meters installed in the second property. However, I don't receive the same benefit I would have done for recommending a friend which doesn't seem entirely fair. I flagged up this disparity recently and was told they were looking into it. I do, though, receive a small discount (50p/month) on my broadband account, because I also buy my fuel from First Utility. The saying goes: 'don't put all your eggs in one basket' but I haven't experienced a problem with First Utility to date.

I ordered a 60 cm x 90 cm canvas print

I ordered a 60cm x 90cm canvas print in mid-December for a Christmas present. I wanted it framed as well which meant I couldn't order it online given the large dimensions, so I phoned up the company and spoke to Gail Fisher. I described the exposure I required and she sent me a 'proof' via e-mail which was perfect, Despite the snow which caused delays, my print arrived in good time before Christmas, carefully wrapped. The quality is outstanding and I can now fully see why so many customers have awarded this company 5*.

I ordered a framed canvas print and matching 6" x 4" print, twice.

The quality of the framed canvas is very good, but I had major problems trying to access the £30 voucher entitled SPECTACULAR30 (orders over £100 qualified for a discount of £30 at the time of ordering). However because I ordered two items the website did not recognise the voucher. I telephoned CEWE who offered me a code number in place of SPECTACULAR30 which worked.

When I came to repeat a very similar order (also over £100) I had more problems and the replacement code I was offered did not work on this occasion. It took a long time and more phone calls than I can remember to carry out what ordinarily should have been a simple and quick process.
