May 31st, 2008 - Fans organized a peaceful demonstration in London to defend the band and challenge the negative stereotypes associated with the emo subculture. The protest began at Marble Arch, where approximately 100 fans had gathered by 10:30 AM, despite a last-minute change of venue. The atmosphere was described as more of a carnival than a protest, with fans singing MCR songs and holding signs with positive messages. Some fans also held a vigil outside the Daily Mail's offices on Kensington High Street.

The protest was sparked by a series of articles published by the Daily Mail, which linked the suicide of 13-year-old Hannah Bond to her interest in emo music and specifically My Chemical Romance. The newspaper described the emo movement as a "suicide cult" and suggested that the band's music glorified self-harm and suicide. These claims were met with outrage from fans who felt that the band promoted messages of hope and resilience.
