watched the m9 episodes that are out Changed my life genuinely but yk what i fucking love about it. the fact that pretty much every m9s members’ flaws were so on display/emphasized!!
like. in the campaign yes they were always very much there, but they did need to be a bit toned down or werent as much on display during like . 4-hour episodes, of course you need to pace that shit out. but in the show they seemed to have really dug into these characters and it really feels like they have genuine flaws that have been emphasized!!!!!
fjord is pretty much a coward, honestly. or, to put it nicely, he has learned to just survive and not get involved in other peoples business. hes a smaller orc compared to most and hes been kicked around enough, and the fact that he leaves that one guy on the alley is genuinely so interesting to me. hes also a bit of a liar, he doesnt correct jester when she thinks hes a captain and isnt upfront about why hes asking her about magic and god stuff not to mention the accent!!
caleb is his usual depressed slightly pathetic self BUT his stuff is really fascinating because he seems to be more bloodthirsty than in the game. he wants to get revenge, while in the campaign it mostly seemed like he was just tired and regretful. in here hes also angry, which is a FUNNN note!!! hes also a bit selfish if you could say that, he seems to only really care about getting his spells back. when theyre under attack in the tent, caleb doesnt care at first about the chaos around him, hes still focused on catching one of the beetles. its only when nott gets attacked that he starts helping (because yes he is still fundementally caleb and a kind and moral person of course of course.) i find it fascinating to see that theyre going for a “i lost my magic and im gonna get it back” route with him, its a fantastic choice imo ripe for great stuff down the line
similarly, beau is only focused on her own mission and is very single-minded in that. in the tent, she too takes a long time to actually help despite literally being in a profession that is kind of a civil servant deal lmao, shes so laser focused on her mission that she doesnt prioritize that over getting that pearl back!! adhd queen. she has her heart in the right place, but her methodssss arent great always lol. also theyve thankfully cranked up her authority-respecting-issues up to 1000 and id say given her even somewhat of an ego?? considering how she talked to her teacher lol. which is COOL to see i think its gonna be fun as hell to watch her shes my blorbo that i cherish
jesters air-talking would probably genuinely a bit unsettling if you were witnessing it in person. she is still obviously VERY charming and cute and wonderful, but she now has even more of this “wow, shes .. a bit nuts” vibe that she brings even more to the function when we cant see the dm shes directly talking to, its super fun!! also seeing her inciting incident is soo exciting. emphasises on how much she fucked up during that lol!! though i slightly wish that her mom wouldve been even passively annoyed at her lol it couldve added a bit of depth but its fine and aa
nott and molly i would say are still very similar to how they were presented in the show, though i love how molly seems to be a bit of a glue-type character in the 3rd episode, with how hes bouncing around the different m9 groups. his flaws also arent really as much emphasized on, and i thinkkk i know whyyy lol. i think were seeing an euology in real time
