op why are you wearing gloves. are you just in the dark. doing this.
typically the baby plane's immune system would be built through nursing and again later with saliva transferal during feeding (this species / model feeds similar to penguins after a phase of exclusively nursing) but without a plane mother we must be very careful when first introducing the infant to a new environment. the same goes for light exposure, as the infant planes (of this species) would spend the first few weeks tucked under the mother plane's winglets, only emerging at night. this of course makes flying more difficult for her and is why mother planes are largely grounded for the fledgling period . occasionally survival calls for a takeoff anyway and this is why runt planes can sometimes tumble onto the runway where the mother must make the difficult decision to circle back or to leave them behind in the interest of the rest of the litter
I made these brushes for CSP a while back, and I've used them a LOT, but I've decided to share the files on my ko-fi. :-)
A while back, I worked at a comic book store five days a week, so I had access to a lot of old Marvel and DC comics. I made these brushes from scanning the comics directly. My brush set has all 64 colors which were possible to print on newspaper at the time.
The names of the brushes are the same names that a colorist would use if they worked for Marvel or DC back in the day. For example, R is 100% red, Y2 is 25% yellow, Y3 B is 50% yellow and 100% blue.
For a long time I told myself I wouldn't share them because I thought I could find more work as a colorist if I had my own tools. Well, I still haven't found much work as a colorist, and I thought it would be nicer to share with other artists.
It's $20 or pay what you want for a zip folder with 64 brushes. Yippee!
I love when paranormal investigators appeal to their long experience for credibility. I've been playing pretend for seventeen years, and let me tell you in that time I've imagined some shit you wouldn't believe.
pixiv artists will draw a cute girl and then add the sign of Mars next to her to indicate she is a warrior?
guy on tiktok pointed out some billionaire bunker plans have STAFF like they dream of a post apocalyptic future where they're still being waited on by people. goodbye. imagine having to work in someone's bunker i'm fucking killing all of us 😃
Some people have run thought experiments on this wherein when those bunkers actually go into use, the (class) status of everyone inside effectively means nothing. If you have a staff or security detail with you in the bunker, as soon as those doors are locked you are getting jumped and ripped to shreds unless you have some INSANE high-tech contingencies that run on pure fantasy.
"Finally, the CEO of a brokerage house explained that he had nearly completed building his own underground bunker system, and asked: “How do I maintain authority over my security force after the event?” The event. That was their euphemism for the environmental collapse, social unrest, nuclear explosion, solar storm, unstoppable virus, or malicious computer hack that takes everything down.
This single question occupied us for the rest of the hour. They knew armed guards would be required to protect their compounds from raiders as well as angry mobs. One had already secured a dozen Navy Seals to make their way to his compound if he gave them the right cue. But how would he pay the guards once even his crypto was worthless? What would stop the guards from eventually choosing their own leader?
The billionaires considered using special combination locks on the food supply that only they knew. Or making guards wear disciplinary collars of some kind in return for their survival. Or maybe building robots to serve as guards and workers – if that technology could be developed “in time”."

Over the last 50 years, vaccines have saved about 154 million lives (94 million from the measles vaccine alone). That's an average of 6 lives per minute.
We tend to think of vaccines as a monolith- that when we make a vaccine against a particular disease, it's largely the same process every time. But it's not. This post will talk about the 6 types of vaccines that are currently available.
Inactivated vaccines are vaccines made by killing live pathogens (disease-causing viruses and bacteria). Since the pathogens are dead in the vaccine preparation, they can't reproduce in the body and cause disease. This makes them safe for just about everyone, including very young children and immunocompromised people.
These vaccines are cheap to make and are relatively easy to make in large quantities. However, the immune response produced by them can be a little weaker than other types of vaccines, so they usually require several doses and often require multiple booster doses over a lifetime. Seasonal flu (shot version), polio (shot version), hepatitis A and rabies are all inactivated vaccines.
2. Live-Attenuated Vaccines:
Live-attenuated vaccines are vaccines made by weakening, but not killing, the pathogen responsible for the disease. This is done over many generations of the pathogen, so you end up with a strain of pathogen that is capable of producing an immune response, but generally not capable of producing disease. Because the pathogens are still alive, they produce an immune response most similar to natural infection. Usually only one or two doses of a live-attenuated vaccine is all that is needed for lifetime immunity.
Also because the pathogens are still alive, they pose some risk of disease to people with compromised immune systems, pregnant people, and sometimes very young children. These individuals will need to discuss risks and benefits with their healthcare providers to determine whether (or when) they should get a particular vaccine.
Measles, mumps, rubella, rotavirus, polio (oral), flu (intranasal), chicken pox, yellow fever, and smallpox (technically) are live-attenuated vaccines.
3. Subunit Vaccines:
In subunit vaccines, part of the pathogen (usually a sugar found on the surface of the pathogen, a protein found on the surface of the pathogen, or a combination of a protein and a sugar) is given and an immune response is mounted to that. These can be made by ripping apart the pathogen itself, or by using another microbe to produce the subunit (recombinant).
Like inactivated vaccines, these vaccines are safe for nearly everyone, but they may require multiple doses of the vaccine to confer immunity, and may require boosters later to keep it.
Hib, hepatitis B, HPV, whooping cough, pneumococcal, meningococcal, and shingles are subunit vaccines.
4. Toxoid Vaccines:
Some pathogens (namely those that cause tetanus and diphtheria) cause illness by producing a toxin, which causes the symptoms. Instead of targeting the pathogen itself, we can train the immune system to neutralize the toxins produced by the pathogen, rendering it incapable of producing disease.
A toxoid is a toxin that has been altered so it no longer produces disease, but that is still recognizable to the immune system. By giving it as a vaccine, the immune system learns to destroy toxins before they cause illness. The only two toxoid vaccines are tetanus and diphtheria.
5. Messenger RNA Vaccines:
mRNA vaccines introduce part of the pathogen's genetic code to human cells, allowing them to produce small parts of the pathogen for the immune system to train on. They are as safe as inactivated or subunit vaccines and can be given to almost everyone. The big advancement that these bring is that they can be developed in days to weeks, instead of months to years for other types of vaccines, which makes them helpful in a large scale disease outbreak. Currently the only mRNA vaccine is COVID-19.
6. Viral Vector Vaccines:
Viral vector vaccines are similar to mRNA vaccines, but use a different virus to physically deliver the genetic material to the human cells. The Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine and the Ebola vaccine are viral vector vaccines.
the comments take this mostly as a joke but i'm so fucking serious. let me find my links. i'm not fucking around
