California grew in population for the second year in a row as the pandemic-fueled California exodus faded away.

Over roughly 10 years, other plants outcompete it and it fades away.

And yet, in that time, it feels as though her legacy as the “Queen of Tejano” never faded away.

“We started to discuss, ‘How are we going to maintain and perpetuate his legacy and not let it fade away?’” he said.

And sometimes optimism comes face to face with reality or just plain fades away.
