GOG Patron
Honestly this Visual Novel is one of the best story wise I have experienced. - Characters have a great amount of depth. - Story is quite engaging and is a good pacing between action, drama, and moments to breath. - The Addition of clue hunting also keeps you focused looking for anything in the background or anything that may look off to see if it's a clue to some side mysteries. Frankly you could cut out the mature content and still have a great experience, it really shows that a lot of care is being put in the project as a whole and isn't a skip to the naughty stuff style game.
This is a solid Metroidvania capturing the classic gameplay and difficulty. Exploration is very well done giving plenty of visual ques indicating areas you can come back to with worthwhile rewards for your work. Challenging gameplay but controls are responsive so deaths don't feel cheap. The pixel art is very well done with plenty of animations and reactions to hits and attacks. One of the best you can find on GOG, enjoying it even more than Bloodstained.
This is overall a great game. Controls are tight and responsive, the music is stellar and mechanics allow you to be creative in fights allowing you to approach enemies from multiple points - going head on, striking from above, using enemies as weapons - you can do a lot, though called a Mega Man clone it does have mechanics found in other games like the grappling hook in Bionic Commando which expands the game play quite a bit. In the end it's a lot of fun and experimenting with the combat can lead to a lot of fun techniques.
