What a great continuation of the Edgewood series with our four wonderkinders off to Peru to look for David Hostetler who is presumed dead for 16 years, but may still be alive there.

I really enjoyed the interaction of our chief and minor characters, with the story revealing enough mystery and quirks to keep me interested on their journey. Nadia and Russ are our two narrators and by far the most likeable and interesting characters. Nadia can read emotions and tell whether people are telling the truth or not once she is close to them. Russ is the most powerful of the four after they were exposed in a field to a spiral light event one night, as he can detect electricity anywhere, send lethal bolts, light his hands and heal people, as well as influence people.

All interesting and very well done by Ms McQuestion, I will definitely continue on to the final two books of the series. 4.5 rounded down to four as it just wasn't quite a five star read.

YES! 5 stars all the way~!~!~!~!~!~! I just love it when the second book is just as good as the first. I'm just so sad the trilogy is almost over. I wish it would continue.

This book goes into more detail than the first one. The kids are exploring more of their powers, and both secret society factions are trying to recruit them, especially Russ. Half of the setting was in Peru, which made it a little more interesting. I just love the whole supernatural anarchist theme in general though.

This time, the book was written from both Russ and Nadia's point of view. We find out from the start that Nadia was falling in love with Russ. At first, I was still conflicted and wanted Russ to be with Mallory. But I was disappointed with her when she played him, then friend zoned him. I mean, he is the most powerful guy out there right now. How could you not be charmed by that!? lol. Then Nadia and Russ' connection deepened. It wasn't long till I begun rooting for Russ and Nadia to be together. I was feeling sorry for Nadia when she felt like she was being left out and thought she was the loser of the group. It wasn't fair how Mallory didn't like Nadia astral projecting to her. She knew she was stuck at home and didn't have friends to socialise with. For her to tell Nadia the whole spirit thing was creepy, that was a little cruel. Meanwhile, Russ was still crushing on Mallory. I can't remember when, but it was during the trip to Peru when Russ finally noticed Nadia was the one who really wanted him. They did kiss in the States before that, but it wasn't that serious yet. I was so happy the chemistry was happening!

There were so many questions about Russ' sister, Carly. She knew too much and he wondered if she once had powers too. Then there was the thing about whether or not she was really his sister. I'm glad they finally answered it at the end!

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't read ahead unless you wish to be spoiled.

I knew something was up with the teacher! Something just didn't see right, even though Nadia didn't sense it straight away. But she should have though. So when he was blown up, he can't really be dead could he? I'm sure he'll make his way back into the kids lives in the final book. And I was also wondering about the other teacher. I forgot her name. She was the one who was insisting on slowing down Nadia when she found out the teacher was trying to brainwash them with their equipment. Surely she's a double-agent as well?

Seriously what took Mallory so long? She had to be revived from a life and death situation by Russ for her to finally fall in love with him? I was rooting for her to be with Russ since the beginning, but she was too late. And now she's all over him, which I don't like, because he belongs to Nadia now. Mallory's also still alive cause of Nadia. I hope Russ does the right thing and stays with Nadia, who's always been true to him all along. But I'm afraid there's going to be a love triangle, and drama's bound to happen! Jameson will be jealous though, cause none of the girls want him, lmao. Please make it Russ and Nadia till the end!

So Carly really is Russ' sister after all, not his mother! There was a point where they were questioning it, because of the whole 2nd generation thing. It turns out none of his parents or sister had powers. He was just exposed to the light particles TWICE. Just wow. I wonder if he'll start to discover more powers later on. And what's with Nadia also having multiple powers? Is she like Russ too?

Read the entire book while waiting for my son to have oral surgery.

This second book in the Edgewood series takes teens Russ, Nadia, Mallory, and Jameson along with adults in the Praetorian Guard to Peru to look for someone missing for sixteen years. Cool powers are still cool! Relationships change, there are surprises and betrayals, and the beginnings of love .

The stakes are building!

One thing, though: the copyeditor needs some remedial English lessons. I really resent being thrown out of the story at one of the most dramatic moments with errors like "She laid by the road." I did not want to blink and wonder "laid what?"

Plural possessives get the apostrophe after the s. Parents'. Parent's means belonging to one parent. Stuff like this kicks me right out of the flow, grumble grumble, stamping cane.

Book 2 is excellent

The fun continues with Wanderlust. Even if you're years or decades past your teenage life, you're going to be enthralled by the adventures of these four teens on a quest to save the world.

Great Book for YA & Grown Ups Alike...

This is the second book in the Edgewood Series and I want disappointed. Both the first and second books were HIGHLY entertaining, fast-paced and very unique. All of the characters were well-rounded and you could not help but like/hate/feel sorry for/empathize/roll your eyes at all of them. They were very much not one-dimensional.

Other reviewers will give a brief synopsis of the book, highlighting the good parts and some will even give spoilers. But I just want to say that this is a good series that I would highly recommend to the kids I see in the Middle School where I volunteer, my other daughters' high school friends and my own book-loving friends of a certain age, much younger than believed.

Read this series. You won't regret it.

Wow, I am really loving this series!

I am so into the teens, and their powers.

The premise is just so original(for me anyway) and cool.

Love how this series is "clean", with no profanity-spewing or sexually immoral teens.

This book has betrayal, plus deepening the relationship between Russ and Nadia.

Both of the first two books are serious page turners, and very difficult to put down. I can't wait to read book #3!

"Wanderlust" is the second book of the Edgewood series by Karen McQuestion. The story follows four teens, Russ, Nadia, Jameson, and Mallory, as they try to blend in as normal teenagers while secretly learning to use their newfound superpowers. The book starts with a strange astronomical event that changes their lives forever. Russ discovers that he has incredible superpowers, and he is not the only one. The other three teenagers have the same experience, and all of them are invited to travel to Peru under the supervision and protection of the Praetorian Guard, an organization claiming to have their best interests at heart.

The book is a mix of fantasy, mystery, and suspense, with a well-developed storyline, twists, and turns. The author, Karen McQuestion, has done an excellent job of creating a world that is both believable and magical. The characters are well-developed, and the story is engaging from start to finish. The book is a page-turner that will keep you hooked until the very end.

One of the strengths of "Wanderlust" is the way that the author has developed the characters. Each character is unique and has their own personality, which makes them easy to connect with. The character development is particularly evident in the chapters that are narrated by Nadia, which provide an insight into her thoughts and feelings, and how she deals with the challenges that she faces.

The book is well-paced, and the story moves along at a good speed. The plot twists and turns keep the reader engaged, and the author does an excellent job of building the tension throughout the book. The climax is well-executed, and the resolution is satisfying.

Another strength of the book is the world-building. The author has created a world that is both believable and magical, and the descriptions of the locations and environments are vivid and detailed. The world-building is particularly evident in the scenes set in Peru, where the author has done an excellent job of describing the landscape and culture.

Overall, "Wanderlust" is an excellent book that is well worth reading. It is a mix of fantasy, mystery, and suspense, with a well-developed storyline, twists, and turns. The characters are well-developed, and the world-building is excellent. The book is a page-turner that will keep you hooked until the very end. If you are a fan of fantasy or YA fiction, then "Wanderlust" is definitely worth checking out.

I am a huge fan of Karen’s young adult novels. “The Edgewood Series” is no exception! This four novel series, discusses the life of four teenagers: Russel, Malory, Jameson and Nadia, as they embark on their new life with super powers! During the series the four teens meet, obtain their super powers and learn how to use them. Once the teens learn of their super powers, they are approached by multiple agencies, who want the teens to help them with their agendas.

The teens embark on adventures as they decide which agency’s side they are on. They also meet other individuals who have similar powers as their own. Once they have developed their super powers, the teens are made aware one of them is the “chosen one” and only this specific person can complete a unique task. It’s destiny! But which teenager is it? It is well worth the wait to find out who the chosen one is!

Additionally, I really enjoyed the fourth book, where Karen, wrapped up the series. She could have taken several different routes to explain the teenagers life with their super powers and I thoroughly enjoyed the decision the teenagers made.

If you enjoy novels about friendship, teen romance, relationships, family dynamics, super powers and some science fiction elements, then this is the series for you!

However, I do caution you this series includes some dysfunctional parent relationships, loss, abuse, trauma, PTSD, teenage guardianship and death.

Finally!!

It is really nice to see something happen when you've thought through the entire first book that someone is being particularly shallow aboit some things, and they finally recognize it. But I'll let you read about that for yourself.
There is an unexpected traitor, a working invention that almost harms Russ...and would have if not for Nadia astrally projecting somewhere. Also, some can see her projection. Its origin ends up being an anger-engendering one. They find an unexpected ally. Russ finds out why he is a "second-gen," when the math doesn't fit. They find an unexpected refuge that is taken away. One of their number is severely injured and healed, as is a small baby, and the tale for which Nadia is taken aside at customs in Peru turns out to be a pretty good parallel (though, according to the author, the tale - legend, if you prefer - was created for the book). The way Nadia gets to go is great because it means she has a more assertive Dad than she realizes, and she finds out why.
There is a lot of action in the book, and it is worked out in a way that will keep you turning pages and wanting to start the next book as soon as you can....whether you're YA or OP (Old Person).

Russ asks for help from his science teacher to decode a piece of paper that could lead to David Hofstetter, the boy who was Russ's sister's boyfriend before he was supposedly killed. The parents of these genius-level kids think they are in Florida at a decathlon, but really the group is following the map to Peru on their very first mission. The kids should be on their guard at all times because they cannot trust anyone, but kids will be kids until reality slaps them in the face. Their trip takes some twists and turns that none of them expected and they can only hope to survive.

The group seemed to skew younger in this book. They made some very stupid decisions that I thought kid geniuses would know to avoid. I was growing concerned about my rating until the second half of the book. It really picks up and some of the mystery is revealed. I like where the author is going with Russ and Nadia...I think that was a good choice. It will be interesting to see the character growth as they get more involved with the Guard.

Book picks up the football from #1 and runs with it -no second book syndrome here. I am really loving this series and especially Russ and Nadia, their interaction keeps the pages turning. Speaking of Nadia it is really good to hear her voice and learn more about her in this book, in the first she was a bit player but here she has become almost the main character. Mallory takes more of a back seat in this one with Jameson providing the comic relief.
All the storylines are moved forward hopefully leading to a great conclusion in the final book
In conclusion, wonderful book wonderful series - start reading!

Even though these books go from literally nothing happening, to something HUGE happening, back to nothing happening, I can't WAIT to see what happens next. I would have gotten through this book even faster if I had not gotten sick and in an allergy haze!

The character development was nice and I like that this book focused on more characters perspectives. I am curious to see if the other characters get their own chapters in the 3rd and 4th books.

For the YA in us all

I was so sure I had this kiddie book figured out. I was wrong on every assumption that I made. I highlighted some very good insights on life in general. I admire the artist who chooses YA as target audience—this is an audience that insists on a good, believable story; I found no discrepancies in these first novel 2 books of the series

It just got better! I read this book a year ago and didn’t review it! I’ve been busy reading other books...eck. Overall, back at it on this series and determined to finish it. I got unlimited kindle/audio package and so, I am listening and reading this series for free! The audio narrator is not so bad, FYI.

f amazing story line, mystery with twists, fantasy comes true!!

I felt that Nadia and R has would become an item and that's what dreams are made of. Karen MC has the talent to make dreams reality. This may be a work of fiction, but it felt so real. When you find a an author who writes this well, it's impossible to stop reading. Her works are a blessing!!
A must read!!

Love this series. Yes it is about teens and yes it is easy to read. It is a rather unique concept. These teens all came together because they have individual powers. They already hang out together so they form a bond. There are evil forces too, but who really is the evil one here? I'm already on Book Three.

This was so much better than the fist book! First, I love that we have dual point of views in this one. I’m not the hugest fan of Russ as a main character so I was happy to see we’d be following Nadia as well. I like her a heap better! In this one, we also have a lot more action and danger. A small group going to Peru to see if David is still alive, a double agent among the group, and explosions! It’s a fun time!

Double Whammy!

A wild ride is an understatement! This work takes us traveling from Wisconsin to Peru, S.A. Secret spy networks and undercover identities for our four main character teens make this an unfolding blanket of intrigue. I cannot stop with this series! On to book three I go. Highly Recommended.

Wanderlust extant story

Though I found this an exelant story and I will certainly like to read books 3 &4, it will take a while before I will be able to convince myself to spend money on it. I just feel that the repetiveness of Russ and Maria's thoughts is very boring
