Ann Sara - I hope you like it as much as I did!

Sara I feel very positive about it, Ann. I loved A Fine Balance.

Ann This one is about a family - so not quite as tragic! But I thought it was very good.

Sara I'm enjoying it so far, Ann. I like delving into a culture that is so different from my own. I learned a ton from A Fine Balance. I knew almost nothing about the desperation of that era in India's history. I seemed to have read a lot about the Raj and the withdrawal of England, but very little about what happened afterward.

Ann Sara - I did not know much about Partition or the time afterward, either. Mistry and several other excellent authors have filled in a lot of gaps that my education left with me! Have you read Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai?

Sara I have not. I will add it to my enormous TBR and hope that I can get to it before I forget it exists. That seems to be happening to me a lot lately. I have had Family Matters sitting on my Kindle for literally years.
