"You do not write your life with words, you write it with actions. What you think is not important. It is only important what you do."
Oh my dear heart, this book is so heavy and heart-rending, yet meaningful and purely beautiful. Through the book, one can clearly point out that the harsh situations that the main character Conor has to suffer are way too painful, but somehow, that happens to be real-life events, the ones which we are bound to bump into, no matter how good or bad they are.
The author has undoubtedly succeeded in delivering this whole astounding message of the story to all the readers or at least, me, through his descriptive, unique and delicate style of writing, and I'm grateful for such a beautifully heart-wrenching writing like this.
P/S: Dear Patrick Ness, I hate you for leaving me here as a pathetic mess like this. I might as well go find some tissues right now and hug my teddy bear really tight tonight.
But seriously, you have my full support on this book. I just can't wait for the movie to come out, so excited indeed!

So the movie did come out later after the time I wrote this review (which was a sobbing mess quite frankly), and I remembered how moving it utterly was compared to the book.
Although this one is written from the perspective of a child, I would not say that it is a children’s book, for I am quite certain that the content conveys a message appreciated by people of different ages - the beauty yet fragility of motherhood.

You said it so well Tran. Beautiful. It was painful and certainly does represent real life - my heart broke for Conor because of it. Have you read about the true story behind Ness's writing of this one? Doubly-heartbreaking.
