I just finished it a couple weeks ago and had the same experience, leaving me practicality speechless. This book both shattered my heart and infuriated me.

Jenny wrote: "Well said. I loved it too, and have recommended it to a lot of people."It’s going to be one that a recommend as well.
Norma wrote: "Oh I have this too and so happy to see those 5 stars Melisa!"It deserves all the stars!
I want to read this now! YA isn't really my scene, but for this I will make an exception. Especially with all the buzz surrounding it.
Crumb wrote: "I want to read this now! YA isn't really my scene, but for this I will make an exception. Especially with all the buzz surrounding it."I recommend it! The only thing YA about it is that the main character is 16. It’s all very mature content.

Thank you for your review, and I totally agree with you! I wasn't able to put the book down until I finished reading this book. I finished reading this book recently because of school assignment, but I was really surprised at the impression it gave me! Also, I thought that I want to have a bravery to speak out and ability to clarify my opinion as Starr did. I didn't have enough courage and ability to talk infront of others for justice. But after reading this book, I think I should work harder to be like Starr. It was a very impressive book and I'm so happy to find out that you felt the same as I did.
I also agree with you and this book is absolutely amazing in showing remaining racial discrimination in our society. Im a student in Korea and before reading this novel, I thought the problem of racial discrimination is not that serious and I just thought it was a old history. But after reading it, I become much aware of social problems in our society. And I also thought acting against injustice is important at all times. Overall, as you also think, I think it is powerful and inspiring book that lets me think a lot not limited in our school's assignment.
