Tom Quinn WCW is one of the only free-verse poets I "get." e.e. cummings is on my short list as well.

Tom Quinn "The Red Wheelbarrow" was my eye-opening experience to (non-rhyming) poetry as actual art.

Tyler V. Agreed! My favorites of his include ‘The Red Wheelbarrow,’ ‘The Crimson Cyclamen,’ the introduction to ‘Paterson,’ and of course ‘This is Just to Say.’

If you like WCW, I highly recommend Frank O’Hara (although much different than Williams, he was my gateway into poetry about four years ago), and Walt Whitman. Oscar Wilde is also quite good but his is much more structured.

Also, check out the film Paterson (2016). It’s a great movie about writing, poetry, and stoicism. There’s actually a couple winks to DFW in there as well. I saw it when I was neck-deep in O’Hara’s work and it made me try WCW.

Tom Quinn "Paterson" has been on my list to watch for a couple months now! I just need to find a free afternoon to devote to it. Detrimentally, perhaps, I've already read several reviews and watched a couple commentary videos about it - shorter experiences than spending two hours to watch the primary text, but adding them all up I've probably spent four-ish hours on it...
