Read 2 times. Last read January 13, 2023 to January 17, 2023.

Reread of one of my formative fantasy reads, and the first book I read by David Gemmell. I have not read over eleven works of his, and he is among my favourite authors. But this is the first book of his I have reread. Legend has been one of my favourite books for a long, long time. So, I was very excited to be going back and rereading this, but there was also an element of nerves as I hoped this would reach the lofty heights that I remember. So, was it?

In short, yes!

Stuart Mackay This was the last book I read last year! I thought it was great. I know it can be read as a standalone but I'm tempted to read on to see what happens. Enjoy :)

Jonathan Patrowicz I literally I just received this in the mail the other day, I ordered it solely due to the Gwynne families love of Gemmell.

W. Boal Legend is just one of those books that stands high in your memory after reading it. What an adventure Gemmell gave us when he wrote it.

So glad that you enjoyed it! Great reading end to 2022 :). It's never a bad thing to read some more Gemmell!

It really, really does. Amazing on a reread as well. Such a vivid read. Druss is one of the greatest characters.

Keith Warren Nice! Such a great book. Reading through Drenai the other year was a freaking blast. Am keen to eventually see your thoughts on the rest of the books. The King Beyond the Gate or The Legend of Deathwalker are my favourites.

Charles First Chronicles is good, I like it better than Legend.

I really need to read more from The Drenai Saga, and First Chronicles of Druss is high on that list. Glad you enjoyed it.

So glad you really enjoyed it! I cannot wait to read more of the Drenai books :). I've read the ones with Waylander, but no others of the Drenai Saga!

LambchoP I've heard Mr. Gwynne was very inspired by Gemmell, Legend in particular while writing Faithfull and the Fallen:)
