OK so, this was the first lesfic I ever read, and I have probably re-read it no less than 5 times. Why I didn't write a review, I know not. No one forgets their first, amiright? It will always hold a high rating simply because of that. I felt the lesfic magic! I was like, "THESE ARE MY PEOPLE! COME HITHER, MORE PEOPLE!" And I started reading lesfic like a crazy person.
I recently listened to the audio version, and firstly, Lisa C's narration is sooooo goooood. She really gets into the characters, there is no robotic readings here folks. she gets IN IT. Her breathiness during the intimate scenes made my mouth go dry. Never have I heard a narrator inflect so much emotion into her characters, and welcome anyone's suggestions for other narrators like her.
The only thing that I didn't like about the narration was that I couldn't skim easily, so noticed more flaws in the characters. Why had I not noticed how much miscommunication there was? When did Caid become such a wilting flower? Her self-esteem and how unsure she was about the status of her relationship with Robin, always choosing to not speak her mind and believe her assumptions, grated on my nerves this time around. It was also exceptionally long, but I was not complaining, because even though I did not skim, I just wanted to listen to Lisa forever.
This is not a very succinct review I realize, but overall I will always love this story like a firstborn, even for nostalgia alone.

Interesting! This is actually next up on my audiobook list, so it's nice to hear your thoughts on the audio! I'm not a huge Craden fan, but I have to admit... her vocals for Olivia's character in EJ Noyes' Alone are *ahem* nice!
Loved this book. It may not have been my first lesfic, but it was an early one and I've read it so many times. :) My only quibble with it was that Caid kept getting hurt every things started to heat up with them
@F/F: For some reason Robin didn't bother me as much as other reviewers. She threw a few loops, but then Caid with her insecurity caused a lot more. Was this your first lesfic too?@Bethany: I really enjoy Abby C, and can't wait to dig into Alone. Her voice for Bec in Ask Tell/Ask Me Again was amaaaaazing.
@Megan: Yeah she did, and why did so much shit always happen to her?? That was a little unbelievable. Again, she could have avoided some of the emotional hurt had she just spoken up! :)
@Tere: I may need to pick your brain for more narrator suggestions, I hear good things about your picks!
@Eliza: one my of many questions! This was originally a fanfic, but she never went beyond, and clearly has great talent.
Excellent review hubs :) You thought of Caid as a wilting flower? I didn't get that at all. I thought quite the opposite during their final 'conversation' at the beach house.
Yeah she got better for sure, I didn't dislike her, by any means, she just could have saved herself alot of aggravation if she just would've opened her mouth and ASKED.
@ Hubsie - well you're gonna loooooove Alone then! Same voice as Sabine from Ask, Tell for Celeste (the main voice), but she tossed in an Italian accent (that sounds somewhat French to me at times, but whatever) for Olivia's character. It's... ummm… *purr* for the steamy scenes!

You're right about the character flaws. See, I'm partial to my first lesfic too and this will always be a 5 star for me no matter how many times I read or listen to it. I've seen others on GR reading this book for the first time now and not understand what the big deal is.
Well, I thought Robin was more flawed than Caid. Robin's the one giving all the mixed signals throwing Caid for a loop (or 5). I'd have low self esteem too, confused, insecure, but probably more pissed off to be toyed like that. And then all the drama to pull Robin back in (bike accident, possible abduction/murder, violent attack) now does seem a little over the top.
Well, whatever. APTROH is my first love too and will remain forever a special spot on my shelf (or kindle).
