In Pieces

I feel as if I grew up with Sally Field, as a teenager I loved to watch Gidget and then the Flying Nun and then Sybil. I never know what a terrible childhood Sally had. Sally took seven years to write this memoir. She was neglected as a child and abused by her stepfather. This is a raw look at her life and how she used acting to escape reality. It is beautifully written with pictures. Sally Field gave her all to this book. I think everyone should read it.

I was always a fan. Do I really want to read about another horrible childhood? I hope it was uplifting in the end or is what we see of her an illusion?

I read this book to fulfill a requirement for HFU for a bio of an actor. I saw this book at the library and decided to give it a try. I knew nothing of her childhood, it was uplifting as she became an aspiring actress in spite of it all.
Maureen, I'm not familiar with her story, but it's always good to see that one succeeds especially after such abusive childhood.
This book broke my heart! I listened to the audiobook narrated by Sally Fields and you could hear the different emotions in her voice. Nice review, Maureen!
