What it is: a near perfect synopsis of 1990's americana with fantastic artwork and a darkly comedic take on teen angst.

What it is not: a female perspective. Enid is the embodiment of an era; a wonderfully-rendered lovable-misfit, but she doesn't quite ring true (and I'm not entirely sure why).

message 1: by Michael (new)

Michael Perkins I happened to read an article somewhere that said Ghost World was quintessential Gen-X.

Kevin I would not argue with that.

message 3: by Michael (new)

Michael Perkins I'm a Boomer (not a fan of my generation:). And have heard different narratives about Gen-X. This seems to differ from others I've heard. I have been inclined to think of Infinite Jest,

Kevin I take issue with being labeled a "Boomer" - both because of the negative connotations and because my parents are boomers and I feel the term "generation" implies a separation. If the baby boom was indeed caused by the return of soldiers/sailors/marines from WWII, then my parents are those people. My grandparents are of the WWII era, my parents are of the Vietnam era.
