Really loved it, and was surprised by it, and am excited to hear what people think of it. It has its strange moments, and some regressive ones, but also incredible sequences, and the Marion character, specifically, fascinated me. Franzen has a knack for intertwined family novels, and this one, while not up to the level of THE CORRECTIONS, is great. Excited for part 2!

I like Franzen but find his men Very Willy obsessed. Is this one?

Being surprised by a familiar author is high praise! I'm really looking forward to this book.
I LOVED the corrections and freedom but not so much Purity. This looks like one I'll sink into.

I’d have read a whole novel about Marion.
I loved it too, but only after it was over. I found the characters amazing, and the scene with Perry at the party…wow, so vividly outrageous. This is a good book club find, though I think some may give up half way. Good, not pleasant. Lots to talk about.
