After I finished Getaway Girl (which I loved too), I wasn’t sure about Runaway Girl and Naomi’s story. But friends encouraged me to read it and loved it too so I finally got around to it and they were right! Naomi (h) and Jason (H) had a wonderful romance that was full of tension, sweetness, connection, some humor, and the steam was excellent. Naomi wanted more for herself so ran away on her wedding day and she found it unexpectedly in Florida with Jason (an Army Special Forces diver on leave) and his sister, Birdie. Written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, some perceived om drama because h considers the possibility of getting back with her ex-fiancé and H is very jealous, and neither are virgins.
I really loved Naomi’s growth from a sheltered rich girl who was groomed to just be a trophy wife to challenging herself. I also loved her optimism, effort, and vulnerabilities. Jason was great too with his own realizations and growth that was prompted by Naomi’s presence, to genuinely be present for his sister, after their family suffered a tragedy.
I did get frustrated with Naomi’s uncertainty over whether she’d be returning to her ex and how it made Jason feel, even if he was struggling with the temporary nature of their relationship because he was going to be deployed again. The third act and what was left unsaid also wasn’t my favorite. But Naomi does eventually stand up for herself (though I wanted it on page) and Jason does fight for them in a beautiful way.
This ends with a HEA and an epilogue several months in the future that left me with heart eyes. I’d definitely recommend this for anyone who read book 1 and hesitated or even if you haven’t read the first book!

You could really read these two in any order too. I liked this one better but I think it was more that the audiobook experience was superior.

Great review! I will have to check this one out. I think I saw this series before but the cover art/photos may have changed. I notice a lot of authors are changing/updating their cover art. I guess it's a marketing thing. Anyway, great review!
She did change the covers recently, to the cartoon ones. And thank you! I hope you like the series too.
i honestly loved old covers more 😂 they were matching with the vibe and writing style. i realized i forgot to read this book😔 i was going to read because i find first book's couple very boring and more curious about naomi
Definitely try Naomi's book and see if you like her story more then! I'm neutral about the cover but another friend hates the new ones. I'm not picky about my covers though.
i also realized i read birdie's book so i'll definitely read this soon 😂 also since i know she can't get back with her ex i'm okay with om drama
Read Birdie’s book and tell me that Tessa B and Jessa K are not the same person. That book is evidence.
@buket THANK YOU! I feel so validated right now.Ugh my autocorrect is determined to misspell your name.
Well my iPad is perpetuating this bullying. If you see me write it, it’s because I got corrected by an ai and I didn’t mean it.
Bingo cards? I have not seen that, could it work as a drinking game? 😆 like take a shot whenever the hero spurts in his pants.
It’s like a bingo card with things normally found in her books - weird description of a dick, “seed”, hero comes in his pants, “little girl”, “daddy”, etc.
How seriously does she consider getting back with her ex? Does it take up the whole book? Does she actively persue or try to get him back? Thanks for any help😁
Lana wrote: "How seriously does she consider getting back with her ex? Does it take up the whole book? Does she actively persue or try to get him back? Thanks for any help😁"She sort of vaguely considers that maybe they'd have a chance again in the future and has vague thoughts that it could be a possibility. She breaks up with him when she runs away via note and later hears that he's dating someone else (which takes place in book 1) and isn't upset, she roots for them. She does not actively pursue him when she eventually sees him again. But when the H asks if she'd be going back to the ex, she never says no, which is where the drama of that possibility comes into play. But she also thinks about how no one's ever made her feel like H does.
