unpopular opinion incoming
first, let me say i am very happy that so many people love this book already. i love that for you, i really do!✨
this book was fine, but i didn’t love it by any means… and believe me, i tried.
maybe my emotions are broken.
maybe i really disliked the miscommunication.
maybe the entire friend groupslightly annoyed me.
maybe the writing felt pretty average.
maybe i went in with my expectations way too high.

I haven’t read this book but I feel this review so hard! I hate it when a book that everyone I know raves about doesn’t click with me and then I have to be like “2 stars don’t @ me”
Not at all! It's definitely a mixed reaction, for me, too! 😔Enjoyed it, but didn't love it definitely sums it up? ♥️
I feel this review babe and your feelings are totally valid. Enjoyed it but didn’t love it sums it up perfectly! 💙
sorry this was a miss for you! totally valid to not have enjoyed it like everyone else - sometimes books are super hyped so our expectations are so high, hope the next one is a great read! xxx
It's totally ok to not love a book that others rave about. It's what makes us all unique and shows how books affect each person. That's beauty of it! I appreciate your review. Im reading this as a buddy read and only 4 chapters in, so it's too early for me to tell.
you all are so cute! to those of you currently reading/listening — i genuinely hope you love it!! those those of you who also didn’t love it, i’m glad i’m not alone. the fact that reading is subjective is a beautiful thing 🫶🏼
"maybe my emotions are broken." - I feel this deeply lol. All I see is 5 stars or 3 stars! This really just helps me manage my expectations, so thank you! 💖
unpopular opinion but i think i prefer negative reviews bc you learn so much more about the book and whether you’re likely to click with it or not! thank you for sharing your honest thoughts about this one, hope your next read is better <3
love the honest review!! sorry it didn’t work out for you, but i totally get it — this is a book where everyone will have mixed feelings and opinions on! i hope your next read is a lot better. 💘
thank you all! regardless of rating, i’m glad i read it and i do recommend it for this summer. it has such good summer reading vibes. 🥰
glad to see more reviews like as we get further from publication date. love your review also, Momma Leighellen! ❤️
Annie wrote: "Thank god someone agrees that the friend group is annoying! 😂"Hahaha I'm so glad someone has my back for this!!
Julie wrote: "1/2 way through and it might go in my dnf pile. Came her to see if it was worth sticking it out :-/"in my opinion, it's a bit predictable at halfway through... and they continue the miscommunication until well after halfway.
no shame in DNF'ing if that's what you decide to do :)
I keep hearing that with this one! I don't read many romance-y books but I love hers. I always have fairly low expectations and end up impressed lol
Oh no, this has miscommunication too? I read pwmov by EH and didn’t like it, there was just so much miscommunication.
@southern lady reads… I agree!!! i just can’t get past how childish miscommunication can be… it’s such an easy fix. JUST TALK
@aliganai if you like Emily Henry’s writing, it feels like her other books which is nice. BUT the miscommunication is like 90% through the book and doesn’t get resolved quickly. it’s a NICE book, but the trope did bother me. it’s up to you on if you want to deal with miscommunication for about 75-90% of the book!
Don’t apologize for your honest feelings, hun. Everyone is entitled to their feelings and we all don’t have to feel the same way. That’s the beauty of our world. If we all thought alike, that would make the world a very boring place. I respect your opinion. I hope your next read is a better fit for you.
That’s why I have trust issues with overhyped books👀 Honest review, Chloe! Hope your next read is better😄
