The Wedding Planner

This was standard fare as far as DS goes. The following statements are common (from memory as I listened on audio):
As blue as the sky
As strong as a lion
As gentle as a teddy bear
Faith is an amazing wedding planner who is against one for herself after a couple of bad experiences. We see her help the rich and gluttounous, while she works hard almost 24/7. She comes across BABIES BABIES BABIES in abundance, an abused woman, same sex adoption, and her own mother who has also had no luck in the marriage department.
There was even a birth scene depicting stirrups. Mmm.
I read a few reviews, and many readers wonder about the use of an editor when it comes to DS. I think she has her own vision and it is what it is. Plain uninspired writing is common, as is repetition and predictability.
The author talk about wealth a LOT, Faith’s assistant couldn’t afford a wedding but I seem to recall the fiancé ‘came from money’, so Faith’s pastoral care of her little flock possibly wasn’t even warranted.
It suited my purpose this time around as I have a weekly work task that is monotonous and bland, so I can get a large chunk read, with little concentration, because let’s face it, that’s what these books are all about.
A generous two stars.

I read a few reviews, and many readers wonder about the use of an editor when it comes to DS. I think she has her own vision and it is what it is. Plain uninspired writing is common, as is repetition and predictability. That's why I stopped reading DS many years ago Suz! Good honest review :)

I have many of the books you gave me still on my shelf, too ;) Thanks Brenda.
Considering the number of books she dishes out every year, I am not surprised she has become repetitive. I have not read a single Danielle Steel yet (I know!), but if I ever do, it won't be from her latest books. Excellent review, Suz!
I wouldn't bother Rosh, if you haven't already :) Actually, she's more Mills & Boon than anything else (IMO)

You have eclectic tastes, unless you wanted something ridiculously easy at the beach. Thanks Rosh!
As a loyal reader, I forgive her these occasional misses. If you are interested in trying a Steel book try Happiness.
I don't think I've read a DS novel in over a decade. Her earlier work appealed to me in my late teens and early twenties but then I lost interest in her style and repetitive content. I guess these are good for quick reads when you want something to just pass the time. Fair assessment, Suz.

It's a good choice when I'm doing these things at work that are boring and repetitive (pulling thousands of books of the shelf at the library that I work in)!

Thanks, Brenda and Suz! I shall not feel the Danielle Steel FOMO anymore. :D
DS, the unadorned mashed potatoes of book reads. I loved your comment " a generous two stars" lol. Fantastic review!
