Joseph Indeed, this book is life changing, I couldn't agree more to Liad. My view of homo sapiens will never be the same.

Boudewijn Just finished this. Couldn't agree with you more. This should be on everybody's reading list.

Hanan Elsharif I totally agree. It is so powerful in a way I never expected. Yuval constantly ties in the revolutions of the past with how we are now. I love how he shows us that things we expect to bring positive outcomes to our lives bring us the complete opposite. perhaps that big house and the 2.4 children is not what we should actually be aiming for.

Mauro Mello Totally agree.

Parshant Panwar just finished it. totally agree.
New favorite book

message 10: by Pete (new) - rated it 1 star

Pete A gentle suggestion: consider deeply whether you have learned truth or error from the author. There is much he failed to say, that apparently was left out because it disproves many of his theses. An incredibly engaging book... yet is it nonfiction?

I have read your review. I think you're focusing too much on the details, which I think you have misunderstood, and ignoring the message - in which you have completely misunderstood.

but, suit yourself :) it's ok to have your own opinion of course.

Pabgo Exactly!

Vesna Totally agreeeee!!!

message 22: by Hasan (new) - added it

Hasan Dogan im reading this book now in Turkish version found it very informative and exciting about our ancestor

Becky I couldn't agree more

Sergii Boiko The most impressive part was an author's view on imagine realities and the example with the Peugeot company. This book definitely changes the way you think about yourself and those around you.

Damien I really enjoyed reading this book yet it didn't "changed" me in any fashion... would you please be more precise about how it changed you somehow?

message 26: by Don (new) - rated it 5 stars

Don Vaillancourt As soon as I read the part about God being fiction, I knew this would be a book I would love. But a lot of people are not going to agree with this book.

message 27: by Zeynep (new)

Zeynep Sada Agree.. It gives me an eagerness to learn more about our past. this book is a nice journey!

message 28: by Taisha (new)

Bela Exactly what I thought when I read this book..

message 31: by Jean (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jean I feel the same way, I’ve been an avid reader for over 70 years and this book was one of the most interesting I’ve read. It is also accessible and straightforward.

Guilherme Ferreira The best book I’ve read so far

message 33: by Rachel (new) - added it

David Link I agree. Great book. I has changed how I see the world and myself. The last great book, that gave me such insights was Richard Dawkin's: The Selfish Gene. I recommend it to all you fan's of Sapien.

Sally Campbell Interested to hear more about how you feel it has changed you as a person...

David Link Hi @Sally, the book, Sapien changes the way we understand ourselves. It gives a deeper understanding of how we evolved, politically and socially to our current state - and it sheds light on the current state of human affairs by knowing alternatives existed, and still exist. All of our institutions, government, our economy, home ownership, etc., are the result of past history and are not concrete realities that necessarily had to come about as they are today.

Jgaits84 I absolutely agree with you. It’s given me a sobering perspective of things and I’m sure it would do the same for many others.

Natacha I could not agree more!

Venelin Iliev The same thing with me.

Bryan Tanner Based on your review, I'm curious—are you atheist?

Daniel Please I need to read this, how do I read this for free #sobs

David Link Read Richard Dawkins's The God Delusion.

message 44: by Laura (new) - rated it 1 star

Laura Carvalho Can I ask why did you feel this way? I’m at 45% and honestly around 25% to 35% I almost decided not to continue. So many statements without backup, so much repetition, so much biased statements... I honestly so far I’m rating this book 2 starts only for the effort.

I’m not going to deny, there are a few things that I was like “oh this is interesting” but that’s it!

David Link @Laura I found all the facts that Harari presented to be plausible. His writing is very scholarly. What statements did you find were bias? And if so, biased towards what?

message 46: by Adam (new) - rated it 3 stars

Adam What do you mean by obligatory? That everyone should be forced to read it?

In what ways has this book changed your life?

Chris Completely agree

message 48: by Juan (new) - rated it 5 stars

Juan Aguayo Exactly how i feel about it!!

Glioris I think no book should be obligatory for no one.

Jordan McClements Great food for thought. Another review complains (not totally without justification) that there are too many opinions and not enough facts. But it works perfectly for me. You don't have to agree with 100% of his theories to enjoy the book.
