Still can't understand the hype

I'm sorry but I actually laughed way too hard reading this "review".

This review made me laugh. I don't read much fantasy at all, but I feel like too much of it is trying to be romance these days.

I have not read this book, but your review spoke to my soul. This new trend of romance writers everywhere writing fantasy is incredibly problematic because it’s changing the fantasy genre and making it increasingly more difficult for traditional fantasy writers to get published. Romance has always been a bigger and more popular genre than fantasy, so when romance writers and romance readers start dabbling in fantasy, they become the most dominant voices in fantasy, overtaking the writers and readers of traditional fantasy. Publishing houses are going to publish what’s most in demand, and now because of all the romance readers who want a little fantasy in their romance books, this is the type of fantasy that is becoming most popular, so this is the type of fantasy that publishing houses are wanting to publish. If you’re a traditional high fantasy or epic fantasy writer, you’re going to have a hard time getting published unless you’re already a famous fantasy author who is well established in the industry. And even some of the well established fantasy authors are struggling due to the genre changing. One of my favorite epic fantasy authors from the 90s recently posted on Facebook that she has written a new book and has been trying to get it published for over a year, but none of the publishing houses want the book. It makes me so incredibly sad. I miss fantasy books with incredible world-building and complex plots. They’re so hard to find now unless you want to go read an older book or a book from a famous fantasy author. The days of new voices in epic fantasy are mostly over.

I am not against Romance authors coming to the Fantasy genre as long as they are adhering to the fantasy criteria (at least the minimum)
but they are bringing their pop slang and cliched tropes, throwing in a little magic with a "Mr tall dark and handsome" and an "annoying female lead"
so sad
and that is why I am reading fantasies written before 2018

This book had so much hype for nothing.I paid 21$ for this trash only to dnf due to lack of talent
