it was amazing

Valeria Banning is the Sheriff (or shire reeve) of the Mage Council and it is her job to bring in Mage Criminals. She does her job well and holds to honor…until she meets Griffin Dare! Griff is a fugitive on the run for the past 6 years. He has eluded Mage shire reeves for all this time and after an attack he meets the current shire reeve Valeria Banning. Valeria and Griffin meet end up working together to try to prove Griffins innocence and uncover a traitor in the Mage Council. Valeria stuggles with the issues of working with a fugitive and Griffin struggles to protect Valeria whether she wants it or not.

I have to say this book gripped me from the beginning. Normally I am back and forth over simple Mage books. I usually prefer when other supernaturals are mixed in. However, Nancy Northcott managed to make this Mage world an interesting one. There is plenty of action and romance. The action scenes are descriptive enough for you to picture them in your mind while not being too detailed that you end up skipping over them. There is also suspense and mystery. It takes a while to find out who the traitor truly is and to know the full details of Griffin's past. I was happy to find very little mistakes if any in the grammar and spelling. This book was definitely worth the money to purchase and the time to read it. There are not a lot of sex scenes which is nice every once in a while, but the ones that are there are well written and feel natural. Not like the author is trying to use sex words that should not be used. Overall this book was very well written, flowed smooth, and kept me locked in. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes Mage books, paranormal books, romance books, and even those who like action or suspense books. The only complaint I truly have is the ending. It ends...that is the problem...LOL...I loved the relationship between Val and Griff so much that I was hoping there was another complete book on them. But I think the future books according to the description of # 2, will have Griff and Val in the books even though the books are about other secondary characters in this book. So while it ended it is not the end.
