it was amazing

This was a fun, clever read that I imagine works even better in audiobook format. Two groups of people have their bodies frozen and their consciousnesses uploaded: a group of astronauts preparing to colonize a distant planet, and a group of convicts serving out their sentences in sped-up time. But something goes horribly wrong and when they wake up, it's 500 years later and they're among a handful of survivors still on Earth. Came for the fast-paced story, stayed for the butthurt reviews from readers who found out that it wasn't just a cast of straight white cis men.

Dale Stromberg One measure of literary quality is when the right sort of people get butthurt.

Rachel Ashera Rosen What baffles me is that have these people never read anything by Robert before? He always has diverse casts and is always science-informed.

message 3: by Dale (new)

Dale Stromberg I don’t imagine they’re actually taken unawares here. The performance of butthurt is the point. If I don’t like songs, I can buy a ticket to every single Disney movie and be outraged it’s full of songs.

Rachele It's actually a glowing recommendation when people who can only stomach milquetoast pablum that upholds their myopic view of the world get upset at the amount of diversity and social issues addressed in a book. This one is going on my to read list
