Socialism Betrayed: Behind the Collapse of the Soviet Union

This book is an extremely detailed analysis of the reasons leading to the collapse of the USSR.
The authors stress how history is full of nuances and make an honest effort to provide most accurate possible portrait of the USSR society, depicting the social, political, and economic realities of the post-Stalin USSR, and making compelling arguments supported by extensive research.
I particularly enjoyed the conclusions in the last chapter where the authors reflect on the main issues of the Soviet society and what they teach us about class struggle and building socialism.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an unbiased and impartial view on the socialist project of the USSR.
