This was such a disappointment right after reading Dallas and Dee’s book.
This is why I hate the dead wife/MMCs that experienced love before because I can’t help but feel the FMCs in these books are 2nd choice at best. Though he did say that what he felt for her was much more intense than what he felt for his 1st love but come onnn! He moaned the OW’s name when they first had sex liiiiike 🤢💀🤢
The FMC became pregnant because of that horrible disgusting disastrous first time btw, so yep she had no choice but to be around him. This is why unwanted/surprise pregnancy being used as a catalyst to force the couple to be around each other rarely works for me.

Irene wrote: "jail, never want to see him again."Exactly!! And she iced him out for about a couple of chapter it was not satisfying at all
Nabilah wrote: "The moaning OWs name during the deed? Totally unpardonable."and I get that at that point they don't know each other that much but it was her first time!! what a memory to have forever euughh
Jen ♥ wrote: "Why did the author think that was a good idea? 🤦🏽♀️"really questioning some decisions she made because you can create drama and angst without these kind of disgusting things like the one in Dallas book.
Carrie wrote: "There is just no coming back from hearing him moan ow name🤮"agree! all throughout the book i kept thinking of that scene
Alexandra wrote: "I have a sudden flashback of Ugly Love from Colleen Hoover...thanks for the heads up, Capt.! ❤️"eeeek! you just gotta remind me of that awful book babe 😭in Austin's defense (i cannot believe i am defending this guy) he wasn't thinking about the OW when doing the deed....the explanation was that it was just the name he blurted out 😭😭whatevs it was awful but at least not the same as that trashbag mmc in ugly love
ewwwww bruh no way even if they don’t know each other to do that just ewww. was the OW’s presence felt all throughout the book?
Retsel wrote: "ewwwww bruh no way even if they don’t know each other to do that just ewww. was the OW’s presence felt all throughout the book?"Yes yess we are subjected to the OW's presence specially from the 2nd half of the book. Just the mention of her irks me but full on interacting with her ughh it was torture.
**Tessa** (semi hiatus) wrote: "Barf! Why? Why would the author think this is a good idea? No coming back from that."Agree cuz I certainly did not come back from that and even his act of service or him saying what he felt for the fmc is more, my mind just kept circling back towards their first time ew ew!
So was the heroine second best by the end of the book? I always feel frustrated and angry if the author fails to convince me that the heroine is the one and only at the end.One book that stayed in mind because the heroine was definitely second best, is The Last Grand Passion by Emma Darcy.
Anna wrote: "So was the heroine second best by the end of the book? I always feel frustrated and angry if the author fails to convince me that the heroine is the one and only at the end.One book that stayed in..."
Fortunately Anna, it did not felt like the fmc was 2nd best. It was quite clear that the passion for his first love was that of a young man compared to his love for the fmc.
I think I remember the last grand passion, was that where the wife is in a coma but the hero still chose his wife over his baby with the heroine? 😭I don't want to remember that anymore, the book fails to convince me that theirs is a forever love!
