Conrad Wroth
The Vampire, Conrad Wroth, is a highly paid assassin. He kills other immortals by drinking their blood until he obtains their power and their memories. But all that killing and drinking has caused Conrad to become consumed with blood lust. And he can no longer distinguish his memories from those of his victims. He's pretty much gone mad.
So his brothers buy an old abandoned property and imprison him in the abandoned manor. And as fate would have it, only Conrad can see the ghost that lives there. His brothers refuse to believe him, thinking he is insane in the membrane!! They fear that they will have to end his life if they are unable to rehabilitate him.

She was rich and famous…

Until a jaded lover killed her DEAD!!!!
Now she's a lonely phantom ghost, left to haunt her home for the past eighty years…
There is an immediate attraction between these two that can not be denied. But Naomi knows that her heart will only shatter if she allows herself to fall in love with a vampire that will heal and then move away.
Conrad is determined to find a way to be with Naomi. He believes that all obstacles can be conquered. He just needs to kill a few more of his enemies before he settles down. He would hate to put his woman's life at risk. And his list of enemies is Looonngg!!
This book started out great (4.25 stars), but started to drag between the 50-60% mark (3 stars). But then it picked up again at 65% and I was physically unable to put it down (5 stars)!!! So I can give this one a solid 4 star!! I also loved that this was the first couple in the series that wanted to be together. They weren't fighting each other, but fighting circumstances.
I am still digging the PNR world that Kresley Cole has created. The variety is wonderful. Witches, phantoms, werewolves, vampires, valkyrie, and demons. I look forward to the next book which will finally focus on a demon. I love horned demons!! I can't wait!! *squee*

Hi, awesome review. This is one of my favorites in the series because it marked a couple firsts: as you said, first relationship where *both* parties wanted to be with the other, first couple to actually fall in love the old fashion way without the fated-mate-thing influencing them (that came afterwards), the first virgin heroe, and (for me) the first ghost-vampire romance, and this one I really couldn't see how it would work out in the end, so I was so happilly surprised with the ending. I fell SO in love with Conrad, poor soul, but he found love. I laughed, I cried, it was very good.-

I love your review! I agree with your thoughts that this couple was unique, and especially tragic. And it lag there a bit around the middle :/
