News
September 3, 2025 saw a major outage in our systems. The root cause was an error in the storage software Ceph, on which our hosting infrastructure is based.
As a result, websites and emails for many customers were only partially or not at all available for several days. Particularly critical was the initial uncertainty of whether all data could be fully restored. While backups were available, they were not up to date.
Our goal was to restore basic functions such as sending and receiving emails as quickly as possible. We managed this by the evening of September 5. A few days later, we were also able to secure the complete data sets and gradually restore them. On September 9, it was confirmed: no data was lost.

We are pleased to inform you that the emails from the previously missing period between 01 September 2025, 4:30 p.m. and 03 September 2025, 5:30 p.m. have now been fully restored. All messages you received during this timeframe, which were not included in our earlier backups, are now available in your mailboxes.
On Thursday evening, our former Ceph storage system was brought back online. This allowed us to create a separate backup that also contained the missing emails. Over the weekend, we integrated these messages into your mailboxes. The work was successfully completed during the night leading into Sunday.
Our hosting environment is now fully operational again. Websites, emails, and databases are completely available and stable.
By the end of September, you will receive a detailed statement from us with further technical information. We are already working intensively on solutions to improve the long-term stability of our hosting services and to ensure faster recovery in the event of any future disruptions. We will, of course, keep you informed separately about these measures.
