US President Donald Trump thanked Iran for cancelling over 800 executions scheduled for Thursday in a post on Truth Social on Friday.

"I greatly respect the fact that all scheduled hangings which were to take place yesterday (over 800 of them) have been cancelled by the leadership of Iran. Thank you!" Trump wrote.

Netanyahu and Trump spoke in second phone call on Iran

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump spoke by phone on Thursday evening to discuss the Iran protests, Axios reported on Friday, citing two sources with knowledge of the call.

This was their second call in two days. During the first call on Wednesday, Netanyahu urged the US not to strike Iran until Israel had the time to prepare for a potential retaliation.

On Thursday, the Kremlin announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with both Netanyahu and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, offering to mediate between the two countries. Earlier in the week, Kan news reported that Netanyahu had sent a message to Iran via Putin, assuring that Israel has no plans of going to war with the Islamic Republic.

Mossad Director David Barnea arrived in the US on Friday morning for talks on the Iran situation and possible US response, Axios reported.

The director is expected to meet with White House envoy Steve Witkoff in Miami. Witkoff has been managing direct communication between Iran and the US during the recent protests, and has been in touch with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

It is unknown whether Barnea will also meet with US President Donald Trump during his visit.

This is a developing story.
