Who
I am a writer, teacher, artist and parent who believes our personal and universal pursuit of truth and authenticity will activate change in the world.
After finding myself on the mat in one of Trish Whelan’s retreats, I was deeply moved by the transformative capacity of Shamanic Kundalini Yoga (SKY), which led me to become certified. This practice has the capacity to melt away old stories and patterns. It welcomes the body and nervous system to feel more grounded and at peace while awakening greater clarity. The combination of movement, breath work and music without dogma meets you were you are and inspires lasting change.
In my offering, I combine the SKY practice with over a decade of experience teaching writing workshops. I aim to support people in remembering their innate wholeness and unlocking their unique creativity.
My life’s work thus far has been centered around deep inquiry and conversation in order to awaken change, connection and growth. SKY offers us the tools to go within for the answers so that we can be the fullest expression of our unique selves in the world.
Currently based in Los Angeles, California, I offer in-person and online group classes, programs and retreats here and elsewhere around the world. Private offerings that are tailored to your goals are available as well. As a queer, non-binary/trans person, I am excited to create spaces that are welcoming, inclusive and inspiring to all individuals.
Additionally, I am passionate about peace and justice. I currently serve on the Board of Directors for Amplify Arts Project and will donate 5% of proceeds from each offering towards scholarships for Amplify’s incredible creative arts and music programming for female-identifying and non-binary youth.
This is a potent time on our planet, and coming together to practice SKY is a powerful tool for clearing away what is no longer aligned and making room for the new. The world is ready for us to create fresh ways. Truth is the thing that will craft the future. I look forward to connecting with you to share this uniquely restorative and inspiring experience.
What
Shamanic Kundalini Yoga (SKY) is the ancient and future-facing practice of Kundalini yoga taught through the universal lens of Shamanism. Working with the elements and forces of Nature, this offering welcomes us to meet ourselves on the mat and supports the movement of energy through yoga, meditation and breath work. Practitioners are invited to connect with self, lineage and community in a manner that activates a beautiful alchemy far beyond the mat. It is a potent time on our planet right now, and the SKY practice provides a framework within which we can ground ourselves and identify how best to be of service to the evolution of ourselves and our world.
Where
I live on stolen land originally and still inhabited and cared for by the Chumash, Tongva (Gabrieleño) and Fernandeño Tataviam people in Los Angeles, California. I honor and pay respect to their elders and descendants ─ past, present, and emerging ─ as they continue their stewardship of these lands and waters. I commit to decolonizing myself and my work with ongoing dedication.
Why
I am committed to working towards a world in which individuals of every race, ethnicity, gender, ability, sexuality, age, and geography, have access to environments—personal, professional and creative—that support full self-expression and in which all people have equitable protection and freedoms in all realms of life.
How
I believe that by engaging in open, honest dialogue, conscious movement, and community building, we can advance the revolution we wish to see within ourselves and then in the world.
When
The time is now to be the change we wish to see in the world. I look forward to connecting with you.
Core Values
Individuality
By encouraging ourselves and each other to radically and authentically own, embrace and share our uniqueness, in concept and practice, we can cultivate deeper acceptance and freedom within and around us. We reject the oppressive and damaging notions of homogenous beauty, success and worth, as prescribed by society, and celebrate the many identities, skin tones, shapes, backgrounds, beliefs and goals that make each of us who we are.
Growth
We are committed to our vision that growth unfolds when we hold ourselves accountable to honest personal and collective introspection and dialogue. Growth is vulnerable and edgy, and it is the place where profound beauty blossoms and impactful change emerges. We support everyone, especially underrepresented voices and communities, in their expression and efforts towards individual and community transformation, on and off the mat.
Truth
We uphold the infinite truth that lives within us all. By constantly asking ourselves and each other pointed questions and engaging deeply with the answers on and off the mat, we are better equipped to traverse this wild thing called life. We acknowledge and respect the universal connection to truth for all people of all experiences, identities, and backgrounds.
Creativity
We all have different ways of transforming our internal landscape into a tangible expression of a lived experience. Creativity, including movement and writing, offers an outlet, a means to connect and collaborate, a beauty that is welcomed, and a language for conversations that can often be challenging to open.
Vulnerability
As humans, we are full spectrum beings. When we are transparent about our real experiences, we are able to be more present with ourselves and others. We connect and have the opportunity to remember innate wholeness in the raw space. We reject the idea of a hierarchy of emotions, and believe in the reality of a layered human existence. We recognize that honest sharing requires a tremendous and varied amount of risk and bravery, depending on a person’s identity and location, and work to offer a brave space for raw, vulnerable exchange for all.
