tense with 90%

The teaching method we will use is a post method; we will use components of the standard
methods to create the most suitable one for our situation. The one we will use in this lesson will
be teacher-centered and native language will be used occasionally. We will further integrate
Presentation, drill-and-practice and a short discussion.
Teaching Activities [ASSURE (Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials and Require
Learner Participation)]
The lesson will start with a Prezi introduction to Tales and Legends. It will be about the
meaning of tales and legends, and will shortly present some of the most famous examples. As
an introduction, this part is kept simple and is written in the present simple tense the one
students are already familiar with. Then there will be a grammar presentation in Turkish using
PowToon and Popplet. This will be the only time Turkish will be used in the lesson. The PowToon
presentation will be used to explain the structure of the past simple tense and its usage. The
Popplet will be used to give examples of common irregular verbs in their present and past
participle. After that there will be some fill-in-the-blank exercises to practice the past simple
tense. Then there will be discussion questions related to the introduction and a group activity on
Alice in Wonderland, where the students will find the past simple tense in the text.

Summary
The introduction of the lesson will be about the meaning of tales and legends, and will shortly
present some of the most famous examples in a few sentences and with pictures. Then there will
be a grammar part where the students will learn the past simple tense with some examples of
common irregular verbs with the aid of visuals. After that a simple discussion about the
introduction will be given with questions to answer. At the end, a group exercise will be given; in
this exercise the students will read Alice in Wonderland and will find the places where past
tense is used.

The lesson will include a PowToon presentation about Little Red Riding Hood. Every student
will read a part of the tale and the teacher will evaluate the level of the students' reading. Then
there will be a listening exercise containing also visuals. After that the students will be asked to
answer some questions related to the tale, individually. Also some vocabulary will be learned
and practiced. There will be one more listening exercise about Beauty and the beast prepared
on Stupeflix. The listening will be followed by a handout containing a comprehension exercise in
which the students have to order the events in the story. Finally, there will be some
comprehension questions about the tale that will be answered individually.

At the beginning of the lesson the students will be given the beginning of a legend - Pandora's
box. They will be asked to make a writing and finish the story in their own way. The second
exercise will be to analyze four characters from fairy tales and write a short reflection for each.
Their writings will be collected and feedback will be given. The aim of this activity is to enhance
creativity and avoid mere memorization in the lesson. After that there will be a fill-in-the-blanks
exercise, prepared on Pictochart, in which students will read an excerpt from Sleeping Beauty
and place the missing words. At the end of the lesson, students will be brought into a computer
lab (if they don't have tablets and wireless) and will be given two assessment quizes for the

whole unit.

Summary
This lesson will start with a writing exercise consisting of two parts: the first one will be to
complete the legend Pandora's Box and the second one will be to write an opinion about four
characters from fairy tales. Then the students will be given handouts in which they will read an
excerpt of Sleeping Beauty and will write the missing words. Finally the students will make an
on-line quiz, which will serve as an assessment for the unit.
