Software
photoshop
• Adobe Photoshop is software that is extensively used for raster image editing, graphic
design and digital art. It makes use of layering to allow for depth and flexibility in the
design and editing process, as well as provide powerful editing tools, that when
combined, are capable of just about anything.
• It was created by brothers Thomas and John Knoll in 1988. In 1989, John sold the
program to Adobe Systems, which marketed it as “Photoshop.” Since then, the
program has become the de facto industry standard for raster graphics editing. It is
published for both macOS and Windows, but not Linux.
photoshop
• Photoshop is specifically designed to allow users to create and edit raster images in
multiple layers. These overlays or layers can support transparency and can also act as
masks or filters that can alter underlying images in the layers below them. Shadows
and other effects such as alpha compositing can be applied. It is also possible of apply
several color models to these layers – CMYK, RGB, Spot Color, and Duotone and Lap
color space.
• The default file extension for a work in progress is called .PSD (Photoshop Document).
A PSD file has a maximum of 30,000 pixels for width and height and a file length limit
of 2 gigabytes. Another type of Photoshop file is .PSB (Photoshop Big) – it is a large
document format and extends the PSD’s maximum height and width limit to 300,000
pixels and also extends the length limit to around 4 exabytes.

•Photoshop includes countless tools and
editing settings all for
primarily editing photos although it can
also be used for film and animation as
well. I have already used the Camera Raw
plugin for my split and Silhouette photos,
to edit contrast, highlights and much
more.

Uses
• The program's versatile nature makes it useful for a huge range of imaging tasks, and Photoshop is used in
fields as diverse as architecture, astronomy, animation, forensics, web design and medicine.
• Architects use Photoshop's 2-D- and 3-D-rendering and editing tools to create more realistic design models
for building projects. Photoshop's editing tools allow architects to enhance the images they create, adding
shadows and texture to make models more realistic. Astronomers make use of Photoshop's image
enhancement features to process photographs of space, analyzing the images to learn more about the stars.
Animators use Photoshop's multilayered rendering system to create complex characters and backgrounds.
They can also use the program to edit backgrounds and create animations from still images.
• Forensics technicians commonly use Photoshop to process the vast amounts of photographic evidence that
come from crime-scene photos. Photoshop allows technicians to process fingerprints and enhance images
of crime scenes. Photoshop plays a prominent role in web design, helping site designers to create the
backgrounds, text, site buttons and 3-D artwork for modern web sites. Designers can also use Photoshop to
enhance photos and images for use on websites. Photoshop's image-analysis and measurement features
help physicians analyze medical images, allowing doctors to better understand their patients' conditions and
communicate about them more effectively.
MY OWN
PHOTOSHOP WORK
My Tim Marrs Photocollage
using Photoshop techniques
•For my Tim Marrs inspired piece, I used the photos I took a
few days ago which I edited and changed to create a full
college.
•I looked at some of Marrs' works to get an idea of his style.
•I used motifs in my work to refence Marrs such as: arrows,
bright colours, and signs.
