Complaint About Pending Refund and Negative Experience with Adidas
I purchased a pair of pants during the Black Friday event at the end of November 2024. On December 1st, I received confirmation of the purchase, but the product never arrived. On December 16th, I received an email from Adidas stating that my order was canceled because the product was out of stock. However, when I checked their website, the item was still listed as available for purchase. This is highly suspicious, as it seems they sell items during promotional events without actually having them in stock, perhaps just to collect money without having the product available.
Since December 16th, I have been waiting for my refund. Today, January 6th, 2025, I contacted Adidas customer support via chat to inquire about the status of my refund. I was assisted by someone identified as Harsh_C, who responded in a very unempathetic manner, claiming the refund was processed on December 16th, which is clearly not true. After repeated explanations, they requested my bank statements, which I believe is an invasion of my privacy and security. Despite my reservations, I provided the documents. They then asked for my January 2025 transactions, but as the bank has not yet closed the month, I sent the available records.
Even after all this, they told me I need to wait another 24 to 72 hours. It has been over a month that I’ve been chasing a refund that is legally mine. This is unacceptable for several reasons:
They should not request sensitive documents like bank statements, as this compromises my privacy and security.
Customer service is extremely poor, with unempathetic responses and no concrete solutions.
Selling products that are not in stock to meet sales targets is a dishonest practice and undermines trust in the brand.
I demand an immediate resolution. It is absurd to have to plead for a refund for more than a month. I hope this serves as a warning for others to reconsider shopping online with Adidas, especially during promotional events like Black Friday. My experience shows that the brand prioritizes its sales metrics over customer satisfaction and integrity.
