Stopped working after a few months

Stopped working after a few months, customer service is also not helpful. Don't expect any solution or warranty to come in effect after buying. This is what happens when you buy from China.

Functionality limited with…

Functionality is really limited with promises of getting these in the future, a year later nothing has changed
Also the promise this lock can be controlled all over the world is NOT true. It can only be controlled within the range of what Bluetooth offers.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT

I had no problem installing the peel of lock. I did have problems adding the keypad in the add accessory setting. I had to try about 10 times before finally being able to pair the keypad.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT: Advertising say you can lock and unlock door from anywhere in the world. This is totally untrue. This lock only works with bluetooth AND NOT WIFI. THERE IS NO WAY OF CONTROLING THE LOCK OVER THE INTERNET WORLDWIDE.

Frustrations from beginning to end for a product that might be very good.

In January of 2020 I bought "The World’s Best Peel & Stick Smart Lock" from Gimdow via Indiegogo. This is my review of the product and the company behind it.

I currently have this Bluetooth-connected retrofit door lock device partially working on the front door of my home. Getting to this point has been frustrating and there are potential functions in this innovative device that I'd love to enable, but cannot because I don't know how to! Gimdow has been non-responsive to emails I've sent to info at gimdow.com and support at gimdow.com.

My initial reaction to the product was very positive. It came in a secure and well-packed box. The single page of instructions seemed to be good enough to get me going on installing and using the product. It wasn't.

A QR Code is provided to "watch the installation video." What does a customer do if they don't possess a smartphone?! Going to the support page of the website (/support.html) indicates the same video might be available there - but the link to view the video is totally non-functional!

I do have a smartphone, fortunately, and was able to view the device's installation video. It was excellent.

The next (totally undocumented) step in the process would seem to be downloading the Gimdow Android or iPhone app, which went well using the QR Code on the single-page guide. (I'm on Android.) Unfortunately, doing the following step was the most frustrating of all! Although no instructions are provided - printed or in the app - it is apparent that the first thing that needs to be done is to register me with an account via the app. This required me to submit my email address and wait for a response with an activation code. That's understood and expected. What is not expected is only having 60 seconds to successfully execute this entire process! I believe I had to go through this step at least eight times before I could do it before the time expired! Gimdow must increase this expiration time to at least five minutes because not everyone in the world can successfully retrieve an email and transcribe a six-digit code in less than a minute! Many email systems are not that instantaneous - including mine.

The final step in the registration process requires me to input my name into the Android app. When doing so, there is no button showing on the screen to submit the name! Because I had to go through this part of the process numerous times - starting from the very beginning each time - I noticed when the screen would be drawn that there actually was a submit button - but it was hidden beneath the pop-up keypad of my cellphone! I use a Samsung Galaxy S7 - a very popular smartphone - so I wasn't using something obscure. Did the software developers actually live-test this function with a variety of smartphones?!

Where is a real technical support page located on the website? (I don't believe it exists!) A page that lists procedures and troubleshooting steps. Where is the tech support contact form - or even an email address that would get an email directly to Gimdow's tech support people? Note that I eventually found the support at gimdow.com address in the Indiegogo comments section associated with the campaign for this device, but it was useless.

My frustrations with the product did not end there.

The lock-opening device comes with a wirelessly-connected keypad so that someone can enter a six-digit code to open the lock. I have set up my lock with me as the administrator and my wife as a member and successfully created a code for myself. This is good if I don't have my smartphone with me or a physical key. My wife has installed the Android app on her phone and can open and close the lock but I have no idea of how to give her or anyone else a keypad code!

In summary, I have a device that works - sort of - and could be so much more if only I could be told how to fully use it!
