Arming you with the right skills for your pivot to the ID world
Taking the AIDA course was one of the most strategic decisions I made during my career pivot into instructional design. I came in with prior experience in leadership development and psychology, but I needed a clear, industry-aligned framework to translate that experience into instructional design practice.
AIDA provided exactly that. The coursework is practical, structured, and rooted in how learning solutions are actually designed, built, and evaluated in professional settings. More than learning tools, I learned how to think like an instructional designer, how to analyze needs, make intentional design choices, and communicate my value to stakeholders.
The mentorship and feedback were invaluable in helping me refine my portfolio and confidently step into this next chapter. I would highly recommend AIDA to anyone looking to pivot thoughtfully and credibly into instructional design.
Transition from teaching to instructional design!
This program is the reason I am able to transition into working as an instructional designer, coming from the public education as a teacher and curriculum specialist. I am excited and energized like I haven't felt in over 17 years since I graduated college and went into my first teaching job. My confidence in going to my new role is a direct result the support I received from AIDA. Everything that you do is relevant, useful and directly related to what an ID needs. The only reason I received calls to interview was because of the way I was set up for success by AIDA. This program is awesome stuff, and I've never experienced anything like it.
I loved my AIDA journey
I loved my AIDA journey. It was extremely thorough, thought provoking, and helpful. Working instructional designers provided feedback along the way. There were endless opportunities for growth and networking. The best part was the support after the program is over! The career services team help you land a job!
Strong program with real results and a supportive community
AIDA helped me successfully transition into instructional design with a job-ready portfolio and a clearer understanding of how professional learning gets built. The structure, feedback, and community support kept me moving forward, and I’m proud of the work I produced here.
One thing that made a big difference for me was the 1:1 support from my success advisor. Knowing I could hop on a call when I felt stuck or behind gave me the accountability and encouragement I needed to finish. I understand AIDA is evolving and this level of support may not always be offered, but I hope they bring it back since it truly strengthened my experience.
Overall, it’s a solid investment if you want hands-on projects, feedback from experts, and a clear path into the field.
Now I work from home and love it!
AIDA took me from k-12 educator to a real professional Instructional Designer in just 9 months. It was hard work but with the step-by-step guidance, I became a paid Instructional Designer just 6 months after my certification completion. Now, I work from home and love it!
They really do stick with you after you…
They really do stick with you after you finish the course to ensure you have the support you need in the job search.
The resources and upskilling available even after certification are invaluable.
Applied Instructional Design Academy helped me land my first ID job!
Applied Instructional Design Academy (Learning Strategy and Design) gave me everything I needed to land my first Instructional Design job and feel confident in the field!
The hands-on experience with industry-standard tools was excellent, and getting feedback from working IDs was incredibly valuable. The community and mentorship support kept me motivated and accountable throughout the program.
I built a strong portfolio with projects that demonstrate the skills employers are looking for. The comprehensive job readiness and career services support was outstanding; they helped me translate my teaching background into marketable ID skills for my resume and LinkedIn.
What sets this program apart is how intentional they are about building a supportive community. It's not just about learning skills; it's about joining a network that continues beyond landing a job.
I highly recommend this program to anyone considering a career in Instructional Design. It's truly changed my life and opened doors I never imagined possible!
If you are looking into the Instructional Design field...
If you are looking into the Instructional Design field, I would highly recommend the AIDA program. If you are a teacher who is desperate to leave the classroom, I would double the high recommendation!!
There is continued support throughout the entire program and opportunities for more support after the 9-month program ends. The cohort groups are invaluable. The more active and involved you are in the group meetings and coaching calls, the more you will get out of the program. This was an investment that has been well worth every dollar spent.
I can't say enough about how…
I can't say enough about how exceptional the Applied Instructional Design Academy program is. It is very well run, well-thought out and executed with quality and integrity. AIDA is a very supportive environment to be able to learn and grow. It has incorporated end-to-end support from learning new skills, developing a positive mindset and networking all the way through the job search and landing a position within the instructional design field.
Caution Recommended
While AIDA did many things well, in the end, despite my completing everything with fidelity and following their guidance, I didn't find that the promises lived up to reality. The potential salaries were much lower than indicated, and the number of graduates successfully transitioning is much lower (and the process and timeline) much more grueling and longer than realistic, given the significant financial investments made.
Life changing
This program is exceptional! The support, quality of material and resources from Kick Start through your first paycheck are unmatched. Coaches, working instructional designers, and even hiring managers provide guidance every step of the way, and the relationships you build with others in your cohort are invaluable.
Great Program!
Learning Strategy and Design has a great program. I feel confident in starting a new career as an instructional designer. It was a fun, self-paced course that I enjoyed with lots of support. I loved the people in my cohort group and am still friends with them today. I highly recommend it!
AIDA
Joining the Applied Instructional Design Academy was truly a turning point in my life. As a former teacher seeking a new career path, I was unsure of how to make the leap into instructional design until I attended a bootcamp led by Jill. From that first session, I knew I had found something special.
What sets AIDA apart is the level of support they provide every step of the way. The coaching and feedback were helpful and essential in allowing me to grasp the iterative nature of instructional design. I learned how to think like an instructional designer, build a professional portfolio, and develop the confidence I needed to succeed in a brand-new field.
My success advisor, Jennifer, was especially impactful. During moments when I struggled mentally or felt stuck, she was always there with guidance, encouragement, and just the right words to keep me moving forward. The community of learners was equally inspiring, motivating, supportive, and filled with people who understood exactly what I was going through.
Thanks to AIDA, I didn’t just gain a new skill set, I found a new career and a renewed sense of purpose. If you're a teacher or career changer wondering if this path is right for you, I can't recommend AIDA highly enough. It’s not just a program, it’s a life-changing experience.
Self-Paced / You get out what you put in
The program is well scaffolded and is self paced. You definitely get out what you put into it. I was highly motivated and worked extremely hard and am very pleased that I just accepted a positon in the field after only 3 months of applying in one of the most competitive job markets! Not only that, I had 2 other offers to choose from. The support from start to closure and beyond is noncomparable and I am so happy I selected this program for myself over the other options out there.
AIDA was exactly what I needed!
AIDA was exactly what I needed to transition my teaching job into a career I find joy in. The whole program was full of scaffolding and support, making it virtually impossible not to succeed! In addition, I was able to make connections and friendships with people all over the states going through the program with me. I feel totally prepared and ready for this next chapter of my career life. AIDA is with me the entire way, even after I have graduated. Their Career Services is there to help me with the next phase of the program: getting a job! It was worth every penny and minute I spent on it.
The best opportunity I've found in decades.
I wanted to get back into corporate training after 20 years. Everything had changed including the name. I wasn't sure where to start, but I found AIDA. It was a great experience. I enjoyed learning and working with great people on the same path. AIDA opened instructional design up for me.
This whole process of transitioning was…Lifechanging!
This whole process of transitioning was successful due to being a part of this program. I could have figured out some things on my own, but I would have never been able to guide myself through the structure this program provided. It was scaffolded perfectly to push... then move small steps forward. Each part I left with the skills and knowledge needed to add on to. This program provided people that supported me and gave me confidence when I needed it most. They assist you on the mental aspects of transitioning which I think many people do not see as a major part of the pivot. I am so happy to move into a new phase of my life at the time I needed it the most, I am forever grateful for Jill and all of the team. This was the BEST investment I could have ever made in myself!
I loved my experience in AIDA
I loved my experience in AIDA! There is so much noise out there in the L&D world about how to be an effective L&D practitioner, and AIDA has boiled all of that down into what are truly the best practices that you need to be successful as an ID. Not only that, no matter where you turn in AIDA, there is always someone there to support you. There are times when you feel lost, inadequate, confused, frustrated, and so much more, but if you reach out and ask for help in this program you will receive it. I can confidently say that AIDA helped me land my job in ID and helped me know what to expect when I stepped into this new career. I can't be more thankful for the leaders and members of this program. AIDA is amazing and anyone interested in joining should 1000% do so!
The amount of support and tools that…
The amount of support and tools that this program gives you in 9 short months is invaluable! If you want to break into Instructional Design, this is the most direct way! You become part of a network that will continue to support you even after you begin your new career.
Transitioned Teacher
When I decided to leave teaching for a career in instructional design, I chose AIDA because it seemed like the most comprehensive instructional design certification available, and it has not disappointed. I start my first instructional design role in a couple weeks, less than a year after making this decision. AIDA has taught me the skills necessary to be a great ID, and the community and Career Services support are invaluable. I could not ask for more!
