The hotel is great. Despite being far from the Centraal Station it's easy to get the metro at Bullewijk Station. We had absolute no problems and the cost was low. I recommended it.

Don’t believe what you see in the pictures, it’s very rundown. The bed sheets and towels were stained with red/ brown marks!! The tv wasn’t even connected. The neighbourhood is very unpleasant and sketchy. Only good thing it was easy to get to by tram.

Hammering, drilling & no hot water
Building work and planned maintenance.
Lots of noise with loud banging from hammering and drilling.
No hot water for the first 24 hours on a cold visit.
Room only made up once when requested daily. Therefore no fresh towels etc.
Only one bus option to get to the airport. The bus stop is away the main bus stops at the airport. Then a long walk to the hotel.
Long walks to the nearest tram station.
This is NOT a four start hotel. 2* at best.

There are indeed renovation and maintenance works taking place at the hotel. These are planned and limited to daytime hours only, between 10:00 and 17:00, in order to minimise disturbance for our guests.
Regarding the hot water, unfortunately there was a temporary technical malfunction in our installation. While the system itself is managed by the hotel, in the event of a breakdown we are dependent on the availability of an external technician, which meant the issue could not be resolved immediately. We understand this was inconvenient, especially during colder weather, and we apologise for this disruption.
Housekeeping at Hotel Artemis Amsterdam is provided on request. This is clearly communicated: when guests request cleaning the evening before, the room will be serviced the next day, including fresh towels.
As for the location and public transport, our hotel is positioned slightly outside the city centre to offer better value for money. Public transport connections and walking distances are clearly indicated on our website and booking platforms, allowing guests to make an informed choice prior to booking.
We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us manage expectations and continue improving our communication and service.

The Van Gogh Hotel was an excellent value for the money! I stayed 3 nights for less than $100/night. The negatives: the furniture and the carpet were a little dated. Other than that, everything was great: clean bathroom, nice shower, toilet flushed perfectly, refrigerator in the room, could open the window, quiet at night, safe in the room, coffee in the room (I was not familar with the coffee machine brand and watched a YouTube video about it), strong wifi, and a very comfortable bed with nice comforter.
I opted not to get the 15 euro (I think) breakfast - got a couple of croissants outside the hotel for a few euros each.
The Van Gogh Museum and Rijckmuseum were about 200 meters from the hotel. An Albert Heijn grocery store is right next to the Van Gogh Museum.
Take trams 2, 12 or 17 from the Central Station. Get off at the Mueumplein stop.
The Van Gogh is an excellent option for those travelers who want a comfortable, low-cost hotel in AMS!

It was the most horrible overnight…
It was the most horrible overnight stay, and I will never use your hotel again. There was no hot water, and the only thing the reception said was that the problem was not caused by the hotel, which is simply nonsense. I am an installer by profession, so I know better than anyone that the issue does come from the hotel. The municipality of Amsterdam does use district heating, but that is not the case here, and moreover, the heating itself was working fine. Therefore, the problem is clearly caused by your own installation. I really want my money back — scammers.

To clarify the situation: the hot water installation is indeed part of our hotel’s facilities. However, in the event of a technical malfunction, we are required to call an external certified technician. In such cases, we are unfortunately dependent on their availability and capacity to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. While this does not change the inconvenience you experienced, it does mean that the situation was not ignored or dismissed by our team.
